I got mine yesterday, and put it in at about 7:00 PM. Is there any strange behavior included now that he has it? And another thing, are the bulbs supposed to feel like they have some sort of coat on it?

I'm not sure about the coating question... my bulbs feel normal I guess..

But when I get Buddy new UVB bulbs she usually brightens up and is more active for a few days. I let my last bulb get 7-8 months old and when I put in the new one it helped her appetite. It may have been other factors too but the bulb did help.
She tends to bask more the first day it's in.

OK, because Freddie tends to run into his hide for some reason now. I'll agree, though. He is WAY more active and has very, very bright colors now.
