Dimming Thermostat work with Extension Cord?

I have an exo terra dimming thermostat with one outlet but I want to hook it up to 2 heat sources. Will the dimming feature work with an extension cord between the thermostat and the heat source?

I see no reason why it wouldn't other than amperage. It should be fine as long as you use a good quality three way cord and not those thin wired household cords.
