Why opening his mouth like this?

Good morning.

Very recently my beardie has been opening his mouth — see attached pictures.

I’ve read various thoughts, but can you please provide yours on why he now does this?

He is gaping or adjusting his body temp --- that is normal and good

Thank you. And just now, for the first time, he’s “waving” at me with his front foot.

Does that mean he’s scared or intimidated by me?

No that is a sign of mating - the head bobbing is a sign of dominance and the waving a sign of submission --- hes a little young to be doing that but its normal behavior
