Tail rot

Can anyone help tell me if this is the beginning of tail rot and how to get rid of the extra shed that is stuck on there.

Hi there, it doesn't visibly seem too bad but there may be infection starting under the scales, or there is potential for it. Put either raw honey, neosporin or pure aloe on daily to try to loosen it. Keep watch on it to see if the dark area creeps up the tail, and post updated pics here if you see any change.

Yeah it doesn't look bad to me either. Probably just a stubborn shed. I'd first try the aloe for a bit and see if that helps loosen the skin. Hopefully it will shed soon and that will be it. Look out for shriveled areas or open wounds which may indicate a more serious issue and require the honey/meds and a vet visit.

Yeah, the color looks a bit suspect, but I don't see any open wounds or infection, or "shriveling" of his tail. Keep a very close eye on it, try the raw honey or Neosporin on it daily, and try using a soft toothbrush in a warm bath to try to gently loosen up any retained shed.

If you see that "blackness" moving up towards his body at all, then he needs to get to a Reptile Specialist Vet ASAP for treatment with antibiotics, but it doesn't look like "Tail Rot" to me.
