Hey everyone! I'm wondering it too much greens can give a beardie diarrhea?

My gal is about 3 years old now and she has been loving her greens lately. I feed her a collard green/ dandelion green mix everyday, about 1/4-1/2 cup amount. I was only feeding her once in the morning but with how fast she gobbles them. I was starting to wonder if she's still hungry and so later on in the day I grab a full leaf and hold it in there and let her munch freely. She ends up eating the whole thing, other than the spine of the leaf of course. She also gets her super worms 3 or 4 times a week, she usually eats between 6-10.

I've been reading that too many greens can cause diarrhea, but if she's still hungry then what? I don't want her to be hungry but I also want her poops back to normal.

I'll also note that she went and had a vet visit a couple months ago and has no parasites, so it isn't due to that.

Thanks for your thoughts and invites everyone!

Greens can make the poop a little more moist and cause some additional water to come out with it but not like full on diarrhea, I'd say.
Superworms are quite hard to diggest though and not the best staple feeder. My boy loves them also but he mainly gets dubias and I buy the supers on occasion.

3 to 4 times a week is quite often, she must really be hungry. My boy gets bugs only twice a week.

Ok, thanks for your insight.

Are you talking the "Fresh" packaged ones? That's all I can find here. The live dubias are illegal here in Canada, so my only options are crickets, super worms and occasional horn worm. She doesn't like crickets though.

Sorry, I somehow missed your answer.

It's a bit of trial and error feeding packaged or dried bugs. Mine won't eat them unless I offer them by hand or move them a bit.

Can you get locusts in Canada? Both my dragons go crazy for them. Here in Germany some people also feed snails but I never tried that myself

Yeah, those are illegal here too, unfortunately. When I took my gal to the vet for a check up the vet told me a good high protein insect is some kind of larva (I think) but I can't for the life of me remember. Ill have to call and ask.

Also, when I say diarrhea this is what I mean. She seems to happy and normal behavior otherwise.

Try some silk worms or BSFL

Black Soldier Fly Larva possibly?! But I think they are kind of small.
That looks just well hydrated to me but you could try some sweet potato and see if it firms it up a bit. You can also take a fecal to your vet, just to be sure.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
The head tilt tho! Aaaahhh
