Hello! The above photo is a month of betadine solution. Ive seen many posts and pictures but cant tell if this is progressive tail rot or it healing? Part of me wants to say that white nub is calus forming as a new end of her tail and the tail rot is about to fall off, the rest of me wants to say its progressing and i should have it chopped soon as i can. Any and all insight is greatly appreciated, pics below are from a month ago

Hello,

You can apply the honey at night, when she is going to bed. Just be sure that there aren't
any insects in her tank that would be attracted to it.
The betadine can be diluted down until it looks like very weak tea so go ahead & use more
water to dilute it down.

Tracie
Oh yeah, not a single bug enters her tank and she refuses to sleep anywhere that isnt ontop of me. Ill be sure to get some of that honey. Thank you so much Tracie

Apologies in the delay of a follow up, shes been shedding and just now stopped shedding by her tail. At first i was thinking that little bulb would be the new part of the end of her tail and the dead part would break off but it doesnt seem likely at this point. will be taking her to get it snipped as soon as i can. Thanks all for the inputs

Hello,

Oh I agree also, it does need to be snipped off. The surgery wont be bad at all, & luckily it hasn't
progressed too much. Let us know how that goes!

So great news! When i went in for a second opinion they said to just let her keep shedding and the white will regain its color and to just keep an eye on the necrotic tip but it should come off. Flash forward to now and it has! Ive been continually doing the honey treatment but was wondering if theres anything else i should be doing to treat the now open wound at the tip of her tail? Or just keep swapping bandages and applying honey? Thank you all for the help on this rollercoaster

Honey is good, Neosporin and watered down betadine may be as well. The problem is that there may still be infection there so there's no way to tell. Other than those 3 things, that's about the best that can be done as far as topical . Hopefully all goes well and that would be great if this is the end of the problem. :)

Awesome great ideas. Ill start switching to neosoporin and the occasional betadine soak as to not over do it again. Cant thank ya enough!

Hello,

The end of the tail looks pretty good. Hopefully keeping the area clean & treated with honey,
etc, will keep any infection away. Maybe it will just clear up & heal up nicely.

Thats what im hoping, it seemed fine when it first happened but it definitely seemed i guess raw? Is the best way to describe it later on afterwards. Have been keeping as close of an eye on it as i can

Hello,

Just based on the picture, it does look like a pretty clean wound & doesn't appear to be infected
or developing into tail rot type of scenario. Definitely keep an eye on it to be sure nothing develops
there on the end going upwards.

Really unfortunate news, Berts tail was healing very well then took a turn for the worst out of no where. I was non stop bandaging it with neosporin during the day and with honey at night. It looked white at the end early this morning but i wrote that off as her shedding since shes full blown shed currently. but i come home from work tonight to this, needless to say im taking her to the er near me in the morning after she gets a good nights rest. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated🙏🏻

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
The head tilt tho! Aaaahhh
