I've noticed ever since my beardie shed he's had orangish colors on parts of his body. Haven't been able to find much info about it and was just wondering if it's something to worry about.
We've had him a few months now. Got him from someone that didn't want him after 4 years. He does spend a lot of time out of his tank honestly, he always wants out and we probably give in too often. He eats mostly vegetables like cucumber, celery, some lettuces/spinach. As well as fruits like banana, apples, oranges occasionally. With the occasional inclusion of some super worms.AHBD":2hcm0o9z said:Hi there, how long have you had him ? Orange tones are perfectly normal , many beardies have them. I do think that he looks unwell though. Do you keep him out of the tank much ? Can you post pics of his tank ? They need to spend the majority of their time in where the heat is. He looks a it thin as well, what is he eating ?

Hi,
Orange is a normal color. My beardie isn't a fancy morph, but he has a little orange around his eyes and under his beard. Looking at your setup, I don't see any UV unless it's that one fixture. They need both UV (non-coil bulb) and white light to thrive, along with calcium and vitamin supplements. Below is a good article on care & feeding aspects. Most of the lettuce family is nutrition-poor and spinach apparently binds calcium, so he might benefit from a change in diet. At least yours eats veg. though. I haven't figured out how to entice mine to do it yet. I've tried a bunch of different kinds of them from a list of good greens, but nothing so far. One other question; how is he getting water? If he just has a standing dish, he might not be using it. I give my guy a bath once a week & he will drink then or else I'll drip some on his snout with an eye dropper until he starts lapping at it or turns his head away.
