got one before he wanted to hide.

Totally switching brands only one from this brand
lasted two years.

I can also buy mini supers now that it's November.
I'll talk to my mom, see if she'll keep her word.
She did say next month well it is now.

Alucard ate up to 8 medium crickets, like I said he
has no problem swallowing or eating them. He's 10 weeks
now, and at the tip of the tail shed. He eats protien rich
food items including crickets, my dad got horn worms on
accident, he can't eat them yet. We got pheonix worms.
We have turkey and chicken baby food, he eats for breakfast, gave him mustard greens for lunch and baby
dragon food for dinner and every one meal has crickets
too. My friend from Vegas shipped some medium crix over.

Hey Hoopy, thanks, he just got really weak during
the last days of his life. Vash is sorely missed in
the family.

Today is my sister's 23 birthday! My brother and I got
her a 3ds xl with our SS money just because we did
half. So there's a party later on today ( I live with her
and parents and brother) she's got her 2 friends coming
over. We're busy getting her stuff ready, so I won't be
on later.

So here's an update, it was warm today so I supervised
Alucard in was Vash's garden, now Alucard's. Took a new
mint plant from the store, it looked so sad sittin by itself
looking dead but it's not, it's green and healthy. So I rinsed it and planted it in the garden bed, I can take it with me
when I move away, well Alucard decided to eat part of it
before I could rinse off pieces for his lunch ( I thought to
try mint), he also took in a tiny skinny piece of wood along
with but he still poops so apparently it's not blocking anything. He acts and feeling fine. He has a check up soon
on Wednesday the 5th, so I'll ask her to xray the wood piece
if it doesn't come through. The wood he ate a few days ago.
So I'll post a picture today or tomorrow. He's on my head and I hate to show myself, I'm like a dorky looking girl or
nerd. Part of his head is turning white, weird I thought his body was next. His tail is finished, needs a bath, his tail tip
has stuck shed, I will put him in warm water a bit warmer
like 90* water.

It's not YF!

I mean it looks like shed but that 1% feels like it's
not. He still eats, pooped and nothing seems to
bother him to touch those dark spots, they don't
look brown, they do look dark. They look like he
bruised himself by jumping in his tank off his log
or by me, I might have scrubbed it a bit hard not
too hard though. I mean YF is a bit darker yellow
then what I see on him. I took him to the vet
early as I was 1% sure what it was. She said it doesnt
really look like YF that she has seen before. She also
examined other areas and does not see yellow or
other spots on him. She said the eye looks like in shed
the skin below is yellow but she thinks that's old skin
stuck as it would not come off and she saw him rubbing
against the scale on the table to weigh him. Not much
weight on him as he's still a baby. She had some crix
on hand for lizards who are good at the vet but she
wanted to test his appetite and she says he's got a good
appetite. She sent me home with him and said keep an
eye on the spots and if I see growing yellow spots or
more dark ones then bring him in.

I checked on him this morning at 7:30, I don't see anything
nasty growing on him. He is shedding half his head and
around the spots too, so hopefully they come off with the
shed if not then it may be his color and he's bruised. I do
have witch hazel just in case, the vet avised us to get
some to help with the skin if it's really fungus. I'll still
take him in, not treat it myself. Fed him breakfast early
to see if he wants to eat and he does. He looks so miserable
being all itchy and grey. Some does flake off so it's in
process. His eating has decreased a bit because of the
shed, he'll get a bath to help loosen any of it. He's normal
considering his color, he's had the old yellow since he
came home on October 3.. he's now ready to shed.

Looks like what I'm fighting for Didi around his eye. It's a fungus but not YF as like you I can't find any other lesions anywhere else. So I'm giving him oral med called Itraconazole + Silver sulfadiazine cream. Under the cream I use a cotton swab to put Betadine on his skin, but just around his eye and above and below him mouth. Also on his beard and neck.

When I first started meds a month ago:

What he looked like on the weekend:

So he's improving bit by bit but I have to give the med daily, plus the Betadine & cream treatment daily, too. The only way to find out if it is YF is by biopsy and I'm hoping it's just bad shed.

Keep me posted, k? I'm taking Didi in for a biopsy in January if this isn't healed by then.

And thanks for the pic, it's nice to finally meet you!

Well the yellow hasn't grown at all or any spots.

Thanks Deb but for sure it's not YF.
She did a biopsy on November 3. It really
looks like a shed in progress.. All I have is
witch hazel and that may not work now
since it's not YF. The spot is purple like
a bruise. I suppose we'll find out when
he's done shedding I hate to wait instead
of fighting it. There's one spot now and the
eye looks like shed. He's still itching it.

I gave him a bath and some pieces fell off, the
skin around his eye did, not beard yet. I see a bit
of orange peeking through but still not enough to tell
if he's got fungi or not. It's still waxy like the rest of the
shed feels. It hasn't gotten any worse around the eyes
or beard, if anything it looks a little better but not by
much. Today was the last bath day for the week, did it
4x as advised, should I mist (outside of cage) or would that
give him URI? I rinsed him off everytime he pood in his bath. He still eats well, very hungry today as he ate
a whole bowl of mustard, collard and turnip greens and
8 mediums. He basks like normal, running and jumping, itching his face and glass surfing or dancing whatever you
want to call it. His eye was closed because of the skin,
there's no fungi on it. I got back from the vet as his
schedule was today not Monday. She looked him over
like she did Monday, she still saw nothing wrong. She's
a new vet since my older one retired. She's afraid to give
any meds for an illness she does not see. She's afraid any
meds she gives now will just make him actually sick. She
said fairly normal. I showed her pic after the bathtime
and she too saw patches of orange peeking through. Since
she saw that she believes there is nothing to worry about
it very well may be dead skin just retained. Now I'm not sure how to get retained shed off, is there anything I can
use to loosen it?

Well all the results are in from the biopsy!
He's clean no YF! No type of fungus at all!
It's a bad shed, very, it's so stuck and retained!
I scrubbed more and more skin pieces fell off
around his eye. He's very very active, eats like he
never ate. Ate pumpkin yesterday. So his poop
is orange and green LOL. Well some brown too
because of crix. The worry is over for that, I
will still keep an eye on any abnormalities. He's
ready for bed so his lights are off. He's been up all
day so it's ok if he's ready for bed at night. Still not
sure if I should mist him outside his tank, don't
want him getting a URI. I left him dry instead.

That is wonderful news, so glad the got the biopsy done to make sure. Pure Cocoa Butter works really well, from what I understand they have tubes of it at Dollar stores. You just layer it on every night and within a couple of days the old shed comes right off.

Can you get him to eat more protein? 8 crix, even 3x a day isn't enough for him. See what you can do about that, maybe give him crix more often. He should be eating close to 50 a day at his age.

Otherwise, so glad your little guy is healthy!

I've been wondering that myself, but I might bring in
a fecal to test for parasites. He really won't
grab more than 8. I have 15 in at a time hoping
he'd get them all. Maybe he's bored of crix, I'll
see what I can do, I'll get mini supers shipped to me
and see if he'll eat those. I don't know why he doesn't
seem very interested after 8 of them. He'll eat other
things no problems, dragon bites ( moist food stuff),
greens, chicken and turkey baby food, eggs (2x a month).
I just don't get it. I'm going to try another insect. I will
ask for cocoa better.

Thank you Esther and Deb.

Hi Blue. That's great that the results didn't show any type of fungus and that it's just a stubborn shed. Deb is right about the cocoa butter stick. I do buy it at a dollar store. He's a picture of the one I get.

It is best to apply it at night so it has time to sink in. Best not to apply it during the day when he's gonna be under the heat lights as it could cause a burn to form.

I have noticed that beardies do get tired of a particular feeder all the time so getting some phoenix worms and some mini supers would be good to keep him interested. Make sure you're dusting with calcium 5 days a wk but only on 1 feeding a day.

Thanks for the great news. :)

Yeah, I realized he'll eat some worms instead he ate
16 of those! Pheonix worms and supers. I dusted
16 pheonix for lunch and 19 mini supers for dinner (not
dusted) he then just lied there full LOL. He's a sweetheart.
Is it ok to apply that cocoa butter even if he's under a
CHE? He likes to be under it at sleeptime.
