R.I.P Zen

My boy Zen passed last night.
To say I'm devastated doesn't even begin to convey the amount of hurt. He was doing fine when I left for Washington, but during the trip he crashed.
We took him to the vet as soon as I got here and he said Zen had developed pneumonia. I don't understand how that can happen in 2 days. I had been monitoring him relentlessly every since he aspirated, and there was no rattling, wheezing, popping, discharge, ect. The vet said the sudden climate change coupled with him being slowed down due to wanting to be in brumation was way to much stress for him. But 2 days? I just can't reconcile it.
I want to tell about him and his life and what a wonderful boy he was but words completely escape me right now. I can barely put 2 thoughts together.
It's cold, wet, and dury here. And now I have to lay my boy to rest in a place that it always wet, rainy, and forlorn and that is 1500 miles from his home. Something about that seems so very perverse.
I'll try to do a memorial thread befitting of him in the near future but right now the words just won't come.
Rest in peace buddy and know you were loved dearly 💔

That is horrible- I am so sorry- and to grieve in a place not familiar is even worse- my heart aches for you and him- :(

Oh NO! When I saw the title of the topic in the section, I thought - no, this can’t be it, it’s someone else with the same name. I can not believe!
I don’t know what to say, and there are no words that could comfort you right now.
It's horrible.
I hate that my English is bad, there is so much I would like to say!
Let Zen sleep peacefully, he was loved not only in your family, but also by a huge number of people around the world!

So sorry for you. Unfortunately, dragons are very well known by many who have lost them that they are experts in hiding when something is wrong with them.

The interesting thing is, it seems the ones best at hiding their illnesses are the ones that are loved the most. I've always believed it's because they care about us too, and don't want us to be worrying about them in their last days, but instead, treat them like it's been any other day full of love.

Zen left this world much much richer than many dragons who came before him. He left this world feeling loved, and that's a lot more than many dragons get.

What?! This is soo terrible to read after following you and Zen for all this time. Seeing this thread feels so surreal like a bad dream we want to wake out off.
No words can ease your pain right now but be sure, even though we never met in person, I do feel it as well :(

Thank all of you for the kind words.
I joined this forum when I lost Chomp (Zens clutch mate) looking for some sort of outlet/relief from her passing. Since then I've come to understand it takes certain/special people to be part of this community. People that don't keep beardies just can't understand. I truely do appreciate the kind words, it means so much more coming from the folk here because I know you all get it and are sincere. You all truely have my deepest gratitude.

So sorry for your loss! Sending love your way. It does take a special person to be a dragon parent. It's super hard for others to understand. Were here for you, I know that doesn't help much but just know you're not alone. Hopefully sharing your pain will lighten the load a little.

Thank you.
I've spent alot of time with my others since he passed, it helps a little but damn I miss him. He was Christina's dragon, and me and him got off to a rough start but he ended up being MY boy.

If my Hazel passed, no matter how much time I would spend time with my other pets, yes it would help, but I would still miss her so much. Just like how my Warrior passed away, I spent time with Hazel, But I still missed him and still miss him to this day.

It’s been a month since I’ve joined bd.org! It feels like it’s been longer than that, but I’m glad I’m here and apart of this lovely community!
I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
bro went to bed already, it’s 10:36 pm
Definitely going to be using this image if I ever catch a fence lizard again.
