LMAO!!!! And yeah, I was shaking! EEEWWWWW!!!! I could feel that thing grabbing the gloves and I was sooo freaked out! I was pinching it pretty tightly to keep it from crawling and trying to take a pic! You would have laughed your butt off watching me! And I know, you dive in with both hands and grab them by the handful! *****SHIVER*****

I have a couple questions about roach breeding.

-I will have to keep any roaches I get in the garage. (I live in FL.) Will I still need a suppulmentry heat sorce?
- Where is the best place to buy water crystals?

Thank you!

LOL. I've held some pretty creepy things... I never held a roach before though. :)

For most of the year, no you would not need a heating pad. As long as the bins temps stay in the 85F-95F range your good. Watch that it doesn't get too hot though. In the cooler months, yes use the heating pad to maintain those temps. You also want to keep the humidity levels up in the bins (the water gel helps do this as well as provide a drink for them) if the weather is dry and hot, use a larger bowl of the water gel, the more wet, gel crystals, the more humidity. Also, adding sliced fruit also helps provide moisture/humidity. Oranges and apples work great.

You can get the crystals online from any of the roach vendors, or at a lawn and garden center and some Walmarts carry it pretty cheap. A 1LB jar will last a LONG time. It is cheaper to get it by the jar/bag than to get a few oz online though.

I really honestly do not think I have laughed so hard in my life!! Sandy, I totally and completely agree with you, those things are hideous and I would never touch one!! But...I must say, Lance has been extremely informative about the Dubias and I think that if I can talk my fiance into getting some (he's more terrified of bugs than I am!) we may get some for our Fred. I just may need to borrow Sandy's tongs lol!

I'm glad that my misery has brought you such enjoyment! LMAO! I am actually really glad that I have a thriving colony of these creepy things, they are saving me a HUGE amount of money, super healthy for my babies, and are actually kinda cool to watch! I just CAN'T Pick them up though! That's beyond what I'm capable of! LOL And I'll loan you a pair of my tweezers ANYTIME! I have them stashed cause "somebody" has threatened to steal them/hide them from me! (NO names mentioned..**cough, cough..Lance....cough, cough****)

I was going into the tank to change their fruit and water crystals when I found this couple doing the naughty. I put the top back on them and shut the lights off. I guess I can wait for them.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
