Hi! My Beardie, Stryker, passed away yesterday after 5 years. How do I clean and disinfect his 40 gallon? What about his new carpet, log hide and driftwood? I hate to throw anything outo. Help !
I'm sorry to hear about Stryker. I would rinse the tank well with vinegar & water and then either spray it down with some F10SC or a steam cleaner to sanitize it. The carpet I'd throw in the washer and dryer or replace it with something solid and easy to clean like non adhesive shelf liner. The wood parts can be rinsed off and put in the oven at about 250/low for 45 min or so to sanitize. That should take care of it.
Okay. Thank you! I am not so sure my husband is going to let me get another. We are retired and he doesn't want another animal. So we shall see. I will be sure to let you all know if I do. I am sure I will have many questions. Thanks for all your guidence and everyone's imput all these 5 years. This site is the best!~Joanne
You'll know if the time is right and someone needs a good home. It's good to have everything ready to go just in case though. Especially if there is a rescue situation that needs quick action.
I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
