too much light?

im in the process of finalizing my enclosure build and have a quick question. i was hoping to use a reptisun 10 t5ho in conjunction with a megaray mvb to try to create a UV gradient. is this a bad idea and would it be too much UV?

It depends on how you position everything and if you have a reflector for the T5. Is the diagram a top down? How tall is the enclosure?

The MVB is nice beciase it adds uva that the tubes lack. But they are pretty powerful unless you have a decent amount of hight.

A uv meter is really handy for planning more complicated setups to know for sure you don't have too much exposure.

yes this is a top down view, sorry should have been more specific! :lol: the enclosure is 2 feet tall as well. as far as a reflector goes, it can be either way as i haven't actually bought any lights or fixtures yet.

A run a similar setup in my enclosure, but I have the Megaray and heat lamp next to each other, because I've found the Megaray doesn't product sufficient heat to stand alone. Also gives my beardie a shady spot on the other side of the enclosure.

Yeah, you'll want the basking light on the same side as the megaray so the thermal gradient works out.

Will the megaray be outside the enclosure? I'm not sure 2' tall is enough for an MVB and to still have furnishings inside.

Check out this guide, it's rough but it should give you an idea of what configuration will work best for the T5 and your plan for the layout. You can also browse the files at the uvmeter owners group over on yahoo for the megaray data (and some great information besides).

thanks for the link! yes the mega ray will be outside of the enclosure if i go that route, im still trying to take all the info in cause there is definitely a lot to read on here :study:
