Red Heat light?

I have a light like this, runs at 100W though,for my basking light is it ok for his eyes??? puts off perfect temps, emits red light,

Also have a regular 100W white light in the middle of his cage

What are your basking temps? What brand and type bulb are you using for the UV? You may not even need the red one. The 100w white light should probably put out enough heat for a basking spot depending on the distance. They actually prefer something bright like the sun since they're from the desert. How are you checking the temps? You want to make sure it is between 100º F and 110º F in the basking area. Some people use the red heat lights at night but most say the light bothers their sleep. Its better to use an under tank heater or ceramic heat emmiter but only if it gets below 65º at night. If it's a new bulb, I know it wasn't cheap, you might want to return it.

I'm using a 36" Reptisun 10.0 UVB, just a white house light 100W, and 100W Exoterra. his temps are 105 and 85.8. at night anywhere from 72-77 depending on if its -40 at night or not lol; checking temps with an indoor outdoor with temp probe

The red light isn't really going to hurt them or anything, they just prefer a bright white light. If you're using them together to get your temps right it should be okay. They relate the light with heat, like we do with the sun. I know those bulbs aren't cheap so you could save some money by using a regular 100w household bulb. It's probably good to have around in the winter though!
