This is my new girl, she is one of Barbara's babies from the first clutch and was born on 7/17. Her proud parents are Ms. Tiggs & PVT Blaze. As we know, all Barb's beardies are spoiled.
She had a long trip from CA yesterday, all the way to NY. She arrived 12:30 today. She is gorgeous, has orange colored eyes and is a real sweetie.

I had a problem with Photobucket, promise to put up more pics later. She had a bath, ate a few greens & a little squash as well as 2 crickets. She has been cuddled quite a bit already. And, as Barbara knows, she loves to run up your hand & arm when you try to put her back in. :D
Her stress marks are gone right now, she laid on my lap and snuggled into my hand.

Thanks Tracie, I think all their eyes look happy too. They're all enjoying the horns & silkies, even Sabrina. She starts making chomping motions then opens her mouth wide waiting for me to put a silkie in then she happily chews it up.

Last night Misty was pushing and I was waiting for her to lay eggs but nothing happened. I set her in her lay box but she just sat there. I checked on her twice before I went to bed. Well, this morning she was laying in a corner of her tank and I found 3 eggs in her blanket and 8 on the bottom of her tank. I brought her downstairs, gave her a long bath, she got a drink & licked some baby food with CC and calcium off her nose but wasn't interested in any feeders. After she finished her bath, I was carrying her to another room and she laid an egg that bounced off my slipper. She laid a total of 12 eggs this time, ate 1 large & medium horn as well as 2 crickets. She's very tired though and I will put her to bed early tonight. It will be 4 wks tomorrow since she laid her 1st batch. She certainly seems like a much calmer beardie than she has been in the last 3 wks!

Yes, again Barb. I gave her enough snuggles today for you AND me. :p It was great to see her excitedly eat feeders again, I'm very glad that we have some horns left as those are her favorites. She was exhausted tonight, she closed her eyes immediately when I laid her down on her blanket & corn bag & with her head on her pillow. :love5: Sure hope this egg laying isn't a monthly thing. But, at least so far it's been 10 and 12 rather than closer to 20 like Belle has been laying.

I'm glad that she ate for you! Tell her that her sister is eating like there's no tomorrow! I sure hope for your sake that she doesn't end up laying every month! I'm wondering if Belle will have a 3rd or 4th clutch...I'd be ok if she stopped now!

Hi Kat. Misty is still very tired and wouldn't eat any feeders at all yesterday. I was relieved when she did eat 2 medium horns today but doesn't want any more than that and won't touch her greens. That's great that Belle is eating so well, does she seem tired? Perhaps I was just used to the hyperactivity she had been showing in the last 3 wks, this sure is a HUGE change. Hopefully Misty and Belle will both stop now, it really is a coincidence that they laid their first batches within a day of each other.

Wow, Misty laid more eggs. They're much bigger than Sweetie's eggs. So she lays from 25-32 eggs because they're so small. I always wondered why she laid so many. So I'll send a big HOPE that Missy cuts it out now. Even though she doens't seem to have an issue with laying them. She'll start eating as before soon, Sweetie sometimes went a day or two without eating, just drinking alot. So I've made sure she's getting liquid calcium, which makes up for egg shells, plus not eating. That's always seemed to help Sweetie. She's now back to eating worms and all her salad + rasberries.

Tell Sabrina Sweetie says hi. She's in her "room" watching a TV channel called Frame, that's just music and pictures from around the world under different titles. The boys like cartoons, but Sweetie likes her pictures and music. Luckily she's in our bedroom, where we don't watch any TV for the morning. She's also spoiled!

Hugs to Misty & everyone,
Deb

Hi Diane! Hope all is well with you.
Glad to hear Misty layed her eggs. So you had one bounce off your slipper, huh?!
That's wonderful that she is eating something and is a little more laid back now. Hope she bounces back quickly for you.
I will have to go check on Belle and see how the other egg-laying sister is doing.

P.S. I loved all of the outdoor pics you posted. They turned out great! I can only imagine how cold it was there.. Brrrr!!!!
I rarely get to see ice hanging from trees like that. HeHe.. I lied! I have never seen ice hanging from trees like that in person.
The only time we get ice-cicles(sp?) is if someone leaves their sprinklers on or wets down a tree before a freeze(which is still rare here).

Diane, I'm glad Misty is handling her egg laying so easily. I know what you mean about breeding beardies, it's too expensive to feed all those babies, it's way to stressful if anything happens to your babies in the egg laying process. I don't think I could handle the worry of loosing one of my girls (they are too short from what I've read, anyway) through breeding.

I heard on a news program this morning that you in NY are looking forward to another winter storm (spring, yea, right!) with snows from 4 to 8 inches. But don't feel bad, Montana to ND and a couple of other states east are looking for 6 to 12 inches in the next day or two. Are you looking forward to another snow storm(s)?

Hi Diane,
Hope all is well with Misty, how is she doing now, do you think she's done with her eggies? Bella hasn't shown any signs of laying another clutch, so I'm hoping she's done.

Hi Deb. I didn't realize that the size of Misty's eggs were actually larger than Sweeties. A clutch of 25 to 32 sure seems like a lot even if they are small, poor Sweetie. Hopefully your big HOPE will pay off and Misty will stop the egg laying, but I doubt it. Misty is eating a good amount of protein now but still now greens since her last batch of eggs. I haven't been able to find dandelion greens lately, those were always her favorite so if I can, perhaps that will get her started on eating her greens again.
That's so cute the way Sweetie watches the Frame channel, I can just picture that. Sabrina enjoys watching Looney Tune cartoons lunchtime with the guys while I'm at work. She leans over her 1/2 log laying on blanket & they said she turns her head from side to side watching the colorful cartoons with them. Yes, can we say "spoiled"?
Hugs to you and your crew too.

Well hello Dawn, long time since I've seen you here, have missed you. Hope everything has calmed down for you. Yes, it was a strange feeling when the last egg bounced off my slipper, I couldn't believe it, guess my carrying her didn't stress her out at all. :p She is quite laid back now and much more content but I'm afraid that she is gearing up for the next clutch in about 3 wks or so.
It sure was cold when we had the ice storms, still not too warm yet, only in the 30's during the day and into the teens at night. In fact, we had a couple inches of snow this week again, no warm up for anytime soon either. :( Glad you enjoyed the ice pictures, I have to admit that they were neat when I downloaded them but I have to say that the word I was thinking of when I was taking them was NOT "pretty." lol

Hi Lori. I have to agree with you, I'm not cut out to breed I guess, I worry too much about each of them to be relaxed enough to enjoy having babies. I'm actually not sure that I could even handle watching them breed, would worry about the female getting hurt, I'm a real softie. Not to mention if ALL of the babies weren't totally healthy, too many things can go wrong. We had a few baby chicks hatch out years ago that had some problems and that was just heartbreaking to us.
We didn't get the 5 to 9 inches that they forecasted this week although it was a little tricky driving home from work one night and there was some black ice the next morning. Those poor people in ND to Montana, they haven't had any spring weather yet either.

Hello Christine. Misty has really improved this week. Today she ate a large hornworm and 5 supers so I feel much better now. She isn't drinking much, will once in a while but after she has her poop in her bath, she scrambles to get right back in after I put in fresh water. I suspect she will lay another batch soon but I hope I'm wrong. That's good that Bella hasn't laid anymore, hopefully she won't either.

I'm glad it wasn't as bad as it was supposed to be. I know Montana is a beautiful state. I don't want to live there because I've heard that Montana will get snow as late as June.

Wow Christine, snow as late as June? I know we surely wouldn't be able to handle that!

Hi Diane,
I was going to send you some warm weather, but it went away today & it was colder. Yesterday was so warm as the sun was out all day. Today was miserable but not cold like you're getting Diane. I remember those winters, I come from Montreal, Quebec, and am glad to be rid of them! I'm hoping spring will come soon to you, too.

I'm glad to hear that Misty is feeling better. So you think she's starting more eggs? I think Sweetie is, too, but only time will tell. I'm hoping she'll retire from egg-laying soon, she'll be 5 yrs old next Friday. Isn't 3 yrs of laying eggs enough?

I really enjoy all your pictures of your babies. Judas is so much like Lonzo, still full of vim & vinegar, bobbing everything in sight. Roger put a larger hide in Lonzo's room & put a rolled up soft towel at the end, so he's got a great lookout place. He can jump off his hide, and has only once gotten stuck on his back. So that's a relief. He'll be 8 yr old next month, not sure of the date. He's such a sweetie, he's even liking cuddling now. We've had him over 2 years & it's as if we've had him since he was a baby.

So I'm sending out warm thoughts to you for warmer weather,
Hugs 'n snuggles,
Deb

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
