Hi Deb. I didn't realize that the size of Misty's eggs were actually larger than Sweeties. A clutch of 25 to 32 sure seems like a lot even if they are small, poor Sweetie. Hopefully your big HOPE will pay off and Misty will stop the egg laying, but I doubt it. Misty is eating a good amount of protein now but still now greens since her last batch of eggs. I haven't been able to find dandelion greens lately, those were always her favorite so if I can, perhaps that will get her started on eating her greens again.
That's so cute the way Sweetie watches the Frame channel, I can just picture that. Sabrina enjoys watching Looney Tune cartoons lunchtime with the guys while I'm at work. She leans over her 1/2 log laying on blanket & they said she turns her head from side to side watching the colorful cartoons with them. Yes, can we say "spoiled"?
Hugs to you and your crew too.
Well hello Dawn, long time since I've seen you here, have missed you. Hope everything has calmed down for you. Yes, it was a strange feeling when the last egg bounced off my slipper, I couldn't believe it, guess my carrying her didn't stress her out at all.
She is quite laid back now and much more content but I'm afraid that she is gearing up for the next clutch in about 3 wks or so.
It sure was cold when we had the ice storms, still not too warm yet, only in the 30's during the day and into the teens at night. In fact, we had a couple inches of snow this week again, no warm up for anytime soon either.
Glad you enjoyed the ice pictures, I have to admit that they were neat when I downloaded them but I have to say that the word I was thinking of when I was taking them was NOT "pretty." lol
Hi Lori. I have to agree with you, I'm not cut out to breed I guess, I worry too much about each of them to be relaxed enough to enjoy having babies. I'm actually not sure that I could even handle watching them breed, would worry about the female getting hurt, I'm a real softie.
Not to mention if ALL of the babies weren't totally healthy, too many things can go wrong. We had a few baby chicks hatch out years ago that had some problems and that was just heartbreaking to us.
We didn't get the 5 to 9 inches that they forecasted this week although it was a little tricky driving home from work one night and there was some black ice the next morning. Those poor people in ND to Montana, they haven't had any spring weather yet either.
Hello Christine. Misty has really improved this week. Today she ate a large hornworm and 5 supers so I feel much better now. She isn't
drinking much, will once in a while but after she has her poop in her
bath, she scrambles to get right back in after I put in fresh water. I suspect she will lay another batch soon but I hope I'm wrong. That's good that Bella hasn't laid anymore, hopefully she won't either.
