During waking hours shes out a lot everyday she goes back in to eat and warm up unless something going on in the house means she cant be out as much like for examply yesterday my hubby was doing something in the porch for a lot of the morning and so the front door was wide open. Im in the uk and its winter and freezing. . But it doesnt restrict her much or often she is just very sociable and unless she really needs to be in her viv for a quick warm up heat sleep or food shes out with us.
Its first thing in the morning when she is saying hello im up now I can come and play, when shes done heating up or eating and when we pop her in briefly while we eat too really that she does it its not for long but its often enough to have made a little pink patch on her lower lip.
I just cant see how to deter her as shes out about as often as she physically can be. I cant see it being a problem with the viv or size of it or anything like that the few times we tried to change it and make it bigger because when shes fit and well shes very active she got sick for ages with relocation stress. My temps are all fine she just wants to be nosey and have fuss im sure of that much.
I suppose my question is - is it a common signal of anything other than just be sociable. Am I maybe socialising her with us so much she never wants to be in and is it a bad thing? also ought i be worried about the pink patch should i take her to a vet incase it gets infected it looks nothing but pink and she and her environment are always clean. Is there anything i can do to deter it or to make the skin heal ????? sorry loads of questions but i figure preventions better than cure

well mine come out alot, yeah i agree its cold here! but mine can stay out for hours and it isnt partically warm in the house!
Im not sure about it though, in alot of books it clearly states ` beardies do not crave our attention` i belive this to be complety wrong,
perhaps there is something she does not like in the viv?
what light do you have in the viv and what temps? also what are you taking the temps with?
and the mark,,, hmm i wouldnt worry unless its raw skin? then its an issue.
what can she see from her viv?

No I agree about the contact I think any pet handled a lot would and beardies are very personable animals.
I have a 100w exo terra basking lamp and 10.0 uvb same as weve always had and never had a problem before the temps are 90 ambient and 113 basking I have stats and a temometer on the glass but its prob tested every few days as well.
She gets annoyed if there are bugs about that might crawl on her so they get removed when shes not eating. She can see us pretty well the only thing I suppose it might be is she used to like watching tv but we had to move her viv a little to get it out the way of the draft of the front door she can still see the tv though and she can see the computer too now i guess its the light she likes.
Her viv hasnt changed much since we got it though we changed the wood in there once because she got too big for the old piece but that was long enough ago not to be that.
Ill just keep getting her out then i guess and make sure its kept clean and dry???? if it got infected how would it look??????

Yes yoda goes that too she jumps and scrapes at the glass to come in and out. But where she scrambles up at the glass thats whats caused the sore patch. its taken a while to come but its there so i thought i should i dunno do something ?!?!?

I do have a dog but shes not bothered by her they pretty much ignore each other unless yoda decides to lay on her while she sleeps but the dogs so dopey she doesnt care.

i keep looking for bleeding or crusting/weeping but it just looks pink.

Mind you she also rubs the area on her rocks which arent sharp or overly rough so possibly a skin irritation?? again though no idea what would have caused that nothings changed in the viv.

Well accept and its a long shot i guess the laundry liquid i use which i spose if shes on us a lot which she is. Perhaps its just the general area is irritated and the fact shes up at the glass to get out is coincidental i dunno im clutching at straws. she isnt perminently scratching it just sometimes.

I think her nose should be ok unless it gets a lot worse! Last spring, for like a month strait,my female beardie(yes I know it's not spring now,but she did it in the fall and still does once in a while) would run the length of her cage all day long. She would run from one end of the viv to the other constantly rubbing her nose on the glass(there were times I thought she would rub her nose off). She was fine, but by all means if this bothers you or you think she might be sick take her to the vet. As you say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Please PM me of post here if I can be of further assistance to you.

how old is she?? If she is anything over 1yr, 113f is a bit too high for a basking spot, she may be getting a bit hot in there, try lowering the temps a little to 108 ish.

If not she may be getting'spring fever' a bit early, if it has just come on. After all the snow the temp is beginning to rise again and i have noticed my adult female is looking more alive!

she is about 18 months now i guess I got her as a 12 - 16 week old juvenile christmas before last so i spose that would be about right. I could try lowering the temps but she isnt doing the mouth opening thing they do when they are hot or staying down the cold end shes always at the basking end if anything would she not try to move away from the heat if she was too hot??? the spring fever thing makes sense though shes bobbing and waving a lot more especially when my friend bought her spike over whos a boy !?!?!? I cant be handling baby beardies at the moment though Im afraid so I cant indulge her and let her go for it no room for any more vivs and things

No shes not sick at all no signs of anything untoward shes just a bit crackers running the length of her viv back and forth like a mad thing just as you said. but not ill the area looks ok just pink guess ill keep an eye on her and take her if it looks infected or anything?!?!? :?: :study: :?

sounds like a plan, Gizmo really rubbed a scale last year as she was laying (all the pacing and digging) I just got an iodine (or benodine) solution and washed it to stop infections, it healed pretty well, although now its perminantly dinted a little!

hummmm if she is trying to dig aswell, its usually an indicator of egg laying. You would need to get a lay box ready.

Get a plastic storage tub, at least 15" or more deep. Fill it will washed kids play sand, or top soil (or a mix) make it moist by adding warm water, think sandcastle consistency, not dripping wet but holds its shape. Put her in, and start a little tunnel for her.

She may well get straight to digging, or she may wait a few more days. Generally they will build a tunnel, or really deep hole, turn around, lay the eggs, they cover them up with sand.

Like i said this is what happened to me last year, but Giz didnt start digging until the 11th hour, so i just thought she was hyper. Has she been off food at all?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
