My Precioussses

I debated whether this belonged in the introduction's forum or this one but because we lost these two more than 4 years ago I decided it should probably be here as they aren't new beardies, just new to you all as I've never really shared them with you. These first two, Miss O (for orange) and Miss Y (for yellow) were best friends. I didn't realize until almost 2 or so years after we lost them that this is very unusual. You would have had to see them together to understand that they were talking to each other, usually a lot and every day.

I will share some pics of them with you

Bill found Miss O hiding in this box inside of our living room and had to take a picture of her. Since the camera we were using at that time was a film camera, he took her and the box outside on our steps, which is probably why she looks a little annoyed.

Miss O liked to hide this way a lot, with her loving look. She knew we loved her and that was very important to her.

We submitted this pic for the bd.org calendar some years ago. This is one we took that I never noticed until we sent this in for the calendar that they were talking to each other. In this one, Miss Y was saying "I don't feel good" and Miss O was saying "I know, and I'm sorry" Miss O was like that, she had to comfort. She needed someone to love her and to be loved, and comfort when she knew we needed it.

I had better submit this before I delete what I've done, again.

Probably, they get a little calmer when they are #1 sleepier and #2 older.

My girlie, Riza is an adult(a rescue) and she loves to cuddle. With my older sister..... her main owner.... XD

It's wonderful that once they get used to you, they love being on you, preferably for them, 24/7.

Yes, but sadly, they need to eat/need UVB/heat/ect.. XD Riza would be much happier living on my sister. :3

I know, you tell them that and they look at you like they want you to realize they don't care, they want what they want. Sometimes, when you put them back they give you 'that look'.

Yep! That's the look they give you! Scout and Riza give that look when we put them back.

Guess who's awake? Miss Rosie has been awake! for 3 whole days straight! I am beginning to think I have 2 beardies! instead of one awake and one asleep!

Well, Rosie was awake most of the day today but she went back to her hide about 3pm. I should be grateful that she was awake for 3 days. I will have to wait and see how she does tomorrow am. I am sure tired of this brumation thing. Goldie has been awake every day all winter but I still miss my little Rosie girl.

Rosie was awake yesterday, day 4 in a row, however, she crawled back into her hide box about 3 pm yesterday and today she opened her eyes for a few seconds and that's all. I guess brumation is back in our house. I should be thankful that Goldie hasn't brumated yet. Maybe I shouldn't have said that as she will be next, with my luck. Rosie has figured out that if she goes back into her box (hide) she won't be bothered. Last week I pulled her tshirt from her face to look at her and ask her (before I left for work) why she was still sleeping and didn't she want to wake up. The first look didn't say much except "let me sleep" The second one (same day) said "waaatttt", like a child does when you are trying to get them to remember to do something.

Oh that is so cute, ....................poor Rosie, she just wants to be left alone.........I needed a cute story right now to make me smile. And they say beardies don't have a personality! Ha

Yes, they have a personality and no two beardies are the same. They have a unique way of telling us off without making any noise. One time, recently, Goldie let me know that she was unhappy that I had left her in our bed, covered up, and Rosie (who was awake that day, I sure do hate brumation) was under my t-shirt, asleep. Her look said "Why didn't you come get me and put me there, also?"

Oh I know that look too, have you ever put both of them under your shirt at the same time? I have, and found if each has their own spot their content.........spoiled babies aren't they?

Yes, we usually do it. What happened that time is I didn't have a second shirt on and Goldie was trying to crawl off me to find a place to sleep, so I put her in our bed with one of "her" t-shirts over her to cover her eyes. I got colder later and put a long sleeved t shirt I have for that purpose and put Rosie in between my two shirts, but didn't go back to get Goldie and she saw Rosie in my shirts and she wasn't. She was very disappointed in me.

When we first got her, she hated to be covered up or under my shirts, until we got Rosie and she didn't mind. Suddenly, Goldie didn't mind it, either.

Thankfully, Goldie hasn't been brumating. I thought Rosie was done. She was awake for almost 4 days straight, the longest time she's been awake this winter. She's back asleep and I have to put a corner of the t-shirt she sleeps on over her head so the sun won't wake her up. I decided to let her sleep this winter if she wanted to because one year ago (fall of 09) she went to one certain place in our front yard and dug a hole, every time we took her out. I figured she had decided if we wouldn't let her sleep, she would find a place outside and sleep that way. Every time she went there, I told her that I wasn't going to let her sleep out side, no, no, no. Did she listen? Do human children listen? Of course not. She's not been as bad this year because we are letting her sleep. It is hard to figure out when to get her up or not because when she's awake, she waits for us to come get her up so if her eyes are opened, it was hard, at first, to know if she wanted to stay asleep or if we were supposed to get her up. Silly little girl.

I know, they are really a puzzle at times.

I've found I have to keep checking on her. It seemed this am that she wanted to sleep, she didn't even open her eyes a slit when her head was facing the window and had plenty of light, so I put the t shirt up to hide her eyes from the light. I checked her a few hours later and her head was up so, being the good slave that I am, I got her out of her hide. Her dad took her outside and she let him know when she was ready to go back in the house. He brought her to me and she crawled to a place on the bed where she could hide from the light and went back to sleep.
