mouth hanging open

charlie has been having his mouth open for the past few weeks whenever he is out and i am wondering if that is natural

they open thier mouths to dissipate heat. kind of like a dog when he pants because they dont have sweat glands. if hes doing it 100% of the time and not when hes just basking than your tank may be to hot. your beardie should have a basking spot of 100-110 and the cool side should be about 80. if your whole enclosure is hot and you dont have a cool side that gets down to about 75-80 than you risk dehydrating your beardie. its 100% normal while basking but shouldnt do it 100% of the time unless basking.

I'm glad to hear this is normal basking behavior - my beardie did it for the first time yesterday, and it kind of freaked me out.
