mealworm eggs?

i know that darkling beetles (mealworm beetles) lay thier eggs in the substrate which is the oats, but do they lay eggs in the potato or carrots?? cause i dont want to throw away eggs when i put new potatoes or carrots in there!

just my thoughts but i wouldnt throw away any food like that just in case the eggs are in there... usually the potatoes dont stink, so it shouldnt be a problem....
