We gave five beardies:

Lonzo is 5 yrs old

Sweetie is 3 yrs old

Issy is 9 mo old

Angel is 16 mo old

Rubio is 9 mo old.

The oldest beardie that I've seen on this site was 15 years old. From some info I've read, if we keep our beardies hydrated they can live up to 20 years. I've not ever seen any beardie that old. I'm just hoping all mine live very long!

I also have 5:

Dude (m) - 2-3 years (not exactly sure as he was a rescue)
Nero (m) - 11 months
Sweetie-Boo (f) - 7 months
Calliope (f) - 7 weeks
Hades (m) - 6 weeks

10 years is what I think I've read. It's also my understanding that breeding females play a part in shortening their life span. I think I read that somewhere, although I can't remember where.

Thanks for the replies.

I realize what people say, meaning, what they have read. Guess I should have been more clear in the original post. What I am interested in is information from real experiences. How old was your BD when he/she passed away? Has anybody had a BD live 10+ years or one that is still alive?

Thanks,
Mike

My male beardie Prajna is a year and two months old :)
And my female beardie Padma is about ten moths old :)
I read that bearded dragons live for like ten years or more if properly taken care of.

My first was a rescue sorta, mostly he was just dumped on us, and Tanker was a bit over 8 years old ( really poor husbandry we tried to fix and did in the end), however, he had a urinary tract infection, no one knew about, and died the day after Christmas, 08.
I hope that my young ones live at least 10, given that they are spoiled with every other day baths, fresh organic greens and fruits, and Massive enclosures !
Janie.

Padmae is 7 yrs (female)
Anakin is 5 yrs (male)
Wicket is 2 1/2 yrs (female)

My oldest is a female and never laid eggs so I'm hopeful she'll live for several more years. I'm fortunate to have a fully enclosed small backyard so they spend a LOT of time outside in the natural sunlight.

my [male] is 13 1/2 yrs. old and apparently still very healthy although i'd really, really like to find some folks with knowledge based on previous experiences with bearded dragons' old age normal changes vs. problems. even my vet [who's on Melissa Kaplan's list] has no experience with elderly dragons. so, yeah, i'm hoping that your post will lure someone else out of the woodwork -- maybe we should start a new thread labelled "OLD dragons"? BTW, i can say more if you're not familiar with the general guidelines / indications for over 10 yr olds.

Wow 13 1/2 years old? That's awesome! Got any pics? How bonded is the dragon with you? What have you fed it and what kind of lighting have you used? Have you have it for the whole 13+ years?

pics not available right now, but yeah someday
very bonded [a dirty old man for the amount of "sexy me" beard fanning], very gentle and loves climbing all over us
greens, fruits, babyfood fruit & veggie purees and crickets [always gutloaded and sometimes cal/D powdered]
never mealworms since not willing to cut heads off or risk them chewing at his insides
reptisun or exoterra tube flourescents, tightbeam spots, under-terrarium heatpad [not heatrocks] and walks outside in the real sunshine [harness and leash] -- he's always enjoyed hunting for buttercups in the lawn
not many baths since he always hated them
no plants in terrarium [alive or lifelike] but climbing fake wood stuff, waterdish, large/flat river rocks, hidey-hole area
yes, since he was a baby
later,

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
