Great pictures and lots of helpful info! I recently started a small colony about a month ago with 25 mixed sizes, kept in a 20H aquarium. I have a of couple questions.
I have a small UTH on the side of the glass (Tank is on a carpeted floor) and a 60w heat emitter above. The temps are about 100* beneath the emitter, 85* in the middle and 80* on the opposite side. Is that too much of a temp gradient for that size tank? Humididty is between 50-60%.
Second question - I keep reading about using a high protein diet using dog/cat food. But I know that if you feed high animal protein to feeder insects, which are then fed to other lizards, such as Chameleons, they can get gout. Is this also true for bearded dragons? Is there a benefit, or any major difference between feeding roaches animal protein from dog or cat food, versus plant protein such as oats or leafy greens?
I have never heard anyone mention wet food, always dry. Is canned dog/cat food a problem?
This thread is great! Had my lil dubes about a month and i've never heard of trying bread. Im yeast intolerant so i've just thrown a small piece of yeast free bread in to see what happened and they've swamped it it minutes!
Also stole the tub of water trick to raise the humidity a bit. I've only had naval oranges and water crystals in there with a daily spraying or two of the sides so this hopefully will help the humidity
Haven't read every page yet but i will at some point They are weird as hell to hold but when the mad cat runs off with one and knocks the dusting tub outta me hands.... needs must! Managed to catch them all though
