Just think Morgan, soon you'll have thousands of the creepy things like I do! And I still won't touch them! LOL But I'm sure glad I have them...the kids would be really ticked if I got rid of them! Yeah, I can put up with an awful lot to makes my 4 beardie masters happy!
So I discovered last night that males CAN and DO fly!!
I am never friggin with my roaches at night time but since I got a baby leo I throw in a couple babies with her during the night so she can hunt....last night it was around 10 and I went to go the roach bin and there was 7 males hanging off the screen top  WTF??? How in the world did they get up there?? Since my egg crates are nowheres near the top of my bin.
So I pinged them all off and got what I needed and put the cover back on, when I came back to check again there was 4 more stuck to the top...so I pinged them all off and sat and watched.....to my amazement they were going to the top of the crate and flying to the screen.....then one male flew from one side of the bin to the other and all you could hear was wings flapping then seen him go by the screen to the other side!
This freaked me out a bit, I put ANOTHER layer of screen over top of the existing one, I use aluminum screening but really don't want them to somehow chew their way out, we're also going to towntoday and buying another, bigger rubbermaid and Im going to do it up like a normal roach bin but set my bin inside it....I'm paranoid now, it makes me feel better with alittle extra protection since my house is HOT and HUMID all Summer long, I really don't need any to get loose!
I recently also got dubia's... I got so tired of having crickets escape on me and they stunk sooooo much! so what I originally bought was 200mixed and 20 pairs and I hold them all in a 30 gallon rubbermaid tub with egg crates and I feed them oranges, squash, banana's and a mix of dog food with oatmeal... I feed off the newly molted males or just males overall and I have maybe 30-60 babies running around already! today I went and bought a 45 gallon rolling tub which is huge! I don't know if I went crazy getting that tub (what do you guys and girls think?) for right now the 45 gallon tub is going to work as the place to take Ace, Amber, and Gatwick a bath and feed them also... and then when my colony grows like crazy I am going to move them to the bigger tub! actually... after seeing all the pics and reading all of the pages I am taking the huge tub back and I am buying the smaller 30gallon tub. I don't think I need it to be any bigger than that!
