Gypsy's Thread

this is for my new little beardie girl..which i actually have yet to get,i'm picking her up saturday.I believe she is a year and a beatiful pastel color.Once i get her,i will be posting lots of pictures of my new baby!so...yay!

she is.we're both really figuring each other out...my favorite time of the day though with Gypsy...is her bath time.i love watching her swim around,i know she's having a great time and it makes me happy.

Does she get down low and pretend to be an alligator in the bath ? I think that's one of the cutest things

Actually she does do that! it's funny, she really only does it when my dad comes out on the patio...makes me think of a woman who's in the bath and sinks down lower to hide when some strange person comes into the bathroom*laughs*but today i managed to get a video and some pictures of her in the bath today.gonna have to upload those to my computer then put them here,and on youtube.

awww thats too cute!!! Juuji never did the gator thing but she LOVES for me to put something in with her and fill the tub up some more and she will jump off it into the water and swim like crazy lol... gotta love their little personalities :wink:

That's very cute too I've never seen or heard of one doing just that, but then again, I've never put anything into the bath with them... Hmmmmm...
My first 2 dragons never turned into alligators in the tube, but my newest rescue Stitch has done it almost every bath time! I just laugh when he does it. If he poo's and I'm changing out the water, sometimes he'll lay flat after the water has drained and "swim" when there is nothing left in the sink or as the water just starts to fill back up again. I'm looking forward to actually putting him into the bath tub soon and see what he does

They all definitely have different personalities It's so much fun to see them in person, and then to read about all the different ones on this forum !

i wish i could put Gypsy in the tub...but my parents nag at me about her getting sick from soapscum or from chemicals that i might use to clean the tub...even if i use a 1/4 cup of bleach in a gallon of water to wash the tub,nooo,that'd STILL hurt her...it kinda drives me nuts....>.<....

Diluted bleach used to clean a tub or whatever, and then rinsed well, won't hurt these guys. If you wanted to bug them for something even "safer" you can look to order some Chlorhexidine (Novalsan) -it's pretty expensive in a large amount, but sometimes you can call your local vet's (dog/cat or exotics) and see if they can sell you a smaller amount, and it will be cheaper. It's safe for them to soak in a diluted solution of chlorhexidine in their bath (Stitch gets soaked daily in Chlorhex right now because of his tail wound), so it's certainly safe to clean with as well. It's even not an issue if they drink some of the diluted chlorhex/water solution. Some vet offices use it as a spray cleaner and it's used as a surgical scrub before surgery as well, so it's a good disinfectant. So if your parents don't like bleach you can talk to them about that instead

thanks,i might concider that...of course,i'm sure they'll give me that"you're just no gonna listen to us are you?you do know we're older and therefor know better right?"kinda looks...just don't wanna believe no matter how good you scrub a tub it's still unsafe for these lil guys...on a happier note,i got lil Gypsy here...she's at the back of my neck,digging through my hair.kinda glad it's long and thick..she must like it cause it's warm on the back of my neck,heh.

well,today i took lil Gypsy girl to her first big carshow..and she did so fantastic! so many people petted her and stopped to talk to and about her and she took it all in stride...one guy even took a bunch of photos of her,i was so surprised and pleased!i should have left an email to get copies...oh well*shrugs*but a lot of people liked her and i was so glad...i think she even managed to get me a free jar of some awesome homemade jam...so yummy!! that REALLY shocked me though.that lady was really nice.

she only puffed her beard once today,but that was AFTER the car show...she freaked cause my sister started freaking out because she made Gypsy yawn while she was sitting on her knee.my sister's a scaredy cat hehehe....but she was a good girl.did her usual poo in the bath before we left,ate a good amount of superworms.soo many people asked what she eats!i was glad to spread information around that they are easy yet hard to take care of...but people who don't own a beardie just don't realized how spoiled rotten the little things are!*laughs*i can't wait to take her to the next show..i'm kinda hoping that people will start recognizing me as "that dragon lady" at car shows.here's hoping !

oh yeah also, just to show how spoiled my Gyps is...my dad and i want to get one of those stiff plastic kiddie pools,not the blow up kind,and make a little pool for Gypsy...complete with a mini beach with white sand on one side with fake little palm trees for shade from the sun.so excited!!i need to look on ebay and see if i can find one there...if not,it's garage saleing time!hehehe i also got her new vapor bulb...which is great cause the other basking one i used finally burnt out a couple days ago...but i still plan on taking Gypsy out sunning after her baths.

what an adorable beardie girl! so glad you got her, she is beautiful, love her colors! she looks like she's settling right in with you, what a good beardie mom er i mean slave you are :wink:

i love the swimming video too! that is so awesome with the kiddy pool setup, sounds exactly like something my dad would do, if he lived up here in mn with me. where did you get the hard plastic pool, i looked everywhere this summer up here and couldnt find one, only those inflatable kind, which i don't like. i even went online searching and couldnt find them!

Gypsy says hello right back to Falcor!and actually i haven't found the lil pool yet...but i'm confident.i'm the type of person who's good at the computer and can really find just about anything online.i was even able to find a video game my boyfriend though was totally lost...boy did i surprise him on his birthday^-^. but when i find it,if they have multiples i'll let you know right away!always glad to help another beardie slave out^-^

SUCCESS!! behold,watchers of the Gypsy Thread!i have managed what some could and could not!i have found the holy beardie pool!

okay,my crazy moment is done for now*laughs*but i DID find the hard plastic pools and i realized what the key word is when looking for them in google.the key words are foam plastic wading pool.i even got a link for people if they wanna buy one,this including you Falcormommy!i gotta wait til summer to buy one cause i don't want Gypsy freezing her poor little tail but still,now i know how to find these doggone difficult things.and don't you guys buy all of them out before i get a chance!or i will sic Gypsy on you!all fear the little beardie!

Just loved Gypsy's tub video.........glad you found the baby pools, I had one in Colorado, but didn't get a chance to use it before I left the west coast. It'll be fun to see Gypsy using hers, don't forget the pics when the time comes.

I'm glad she did good and had fun at the carshow !! Esp when she got you some free stuff Sounds like she enjoyed the attention though. It's awesome to be able to educate people and show off our awesome beardies!!
