Can i feed live food everyday?

Can i feed glenn roaches and supers everyday? or is it bad for him not to eat salad? he's two years old.....i mist him frequently

hello, merry christmas . i think at 2 years of age, they should be primarily eating veggies with only a few live feeders a day.

early on their bodies need all that protien from insects but as the grow and their metabolism slows they rely less on catching insects and more on foraging for plant matter.

try mustard greens and yellow summer squash sliced very thin. i have a new recued adult who has never eatten veggies. ive been trying to get him to eat some kind of veggie for the past couple weeks untill he finally did last night. i think today when i offer some he will be more enthusiastic about it.

mustard greens, collard greens, dandelion greens, turnip greens, all this i cannot find at my grocery stores.......

i feed boc choy and spaghetti squash in a dish

bok choy isnt that bad, but it does contain goitrogens(can cause problems with thyroid) and a good amount of vitamin A(vitA blocks calcium from being absorbed) so i would still be looking for another staple green.

i've got that guide but all the staples i can't find in my area........maybe endive and escarole i could find....are all the (black - feed occasionally) veggies that bad or could i use some as a staple...???

i wouldnt use them as staples. where do you live? almost everyone in the US/UK can find these veggies somewhere. try looking in ethnic markets; little family run produce stores. also try looking at swap-meets or outdoor markets.

i live in canada winnipeg, mb and i live in a smaller town so i'd have to drive an hour to get his food....

You may want to think about trying to grow some of the greens so that you can give him a better staple salad since I know it can be hard trying to find good greens in some areas.

As far as the live food goes, at 2 years old he should get 30-50 bugs a week (30ish if you're using mainly supers, 50ish if you're using mostly crickets), split up any way you want. So you can either give him a couple every day or a larger amount twice a week.

how would i grow these staples in winter??? can i grow them in his viv???

If you have a huge tank there might be space to grow veggies, but even then your dragon might munch on them before they really have a chance to grow. You could try growing them inside, by a big window if you have any. Might need to hang an extra light over them to convince them to grow in the winter - I haven't tried growing greens myself so I couldn't tell you for sure what you'd need to do exactly, but I'm sure with a bit of online research you could find out.
