Hi there, how long have you had him ? Does he try to run away, hiss or even bite ? If you just got him, let him settle in for a couple of weeks. If not, just start picking him up. Usually you can get them over this stage by putting on gloves [ if he bites, which they usually don't ] and long sleeved shirt so you don't get scratched. Pick him up firmly but gently + slowly, stay calm and hold him to your chest for about 10 minutes. He will settle down as you just sit with him, and after a few weeks [ maybe sooner ] he'll get used to being held and you can sit with him on your lap, but make sure there's no where he could jump + hide under furniture or wedge himself in to a spot where you can't get him.
