Wont hunt

My new beatdie wont hunt hes 1 -1 and a half months old he will not hunt anything he wont eat out of a bowl he will only somtimes eat if i put bugs right infront of him is this normal? Do they hunt as they get older?

All of the options I posted have the capability of being bought in a small size. You pick the size of all of your feeder insects, not just crickets.
