You do not want the entire length of tank --- they need to be able to escape those rays if they want to- a 24" fixture is good unless you have a realllly long tank

Just like a temperature gradient, you want a UV gradient too. That's difficult to do if the uv spans the whole tank which is why we recommend half- 3/4ths of the tank.
Hmmm I have a 40 gal breeder 36 x 18 x18 w a 36 In uvb hood on top t5 10.0.. My dragon has been hiding alot and eating very little hes only 5 or 6 months I've had him for a month and while he is not losing weight yet he hasn't gained any either i thought it was juvenile brumation but is it possible it's because the uvb is so powerful and should get a shorter on maybe 24in
I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
