Hello, everyone.
Yesterday I had a very encouraging email exchange with the President of T-Rex Products, Alan Botterman. He has confirmed with me, everything that he has told Vicky, Jordan and Christine; and he said "The forum folks have been very helpful in our discovering the unfortunate case of our bulbs being wrapped up in the problem." - so that means you!
He has encouraged me to put word of the situation on the front page of UV Guide UK, which I have now done, alongside the info about the ReptileUV lamps. He confirmed that anyone concerned about a T-Rex lamp should first email T-Rex using:
[email protected]
for advice on returning a lamp.
Both 160W and 100W Active UV Heat Flood lamps were made in batches JI, KI and LI and problem lamps may be found from any of these batches, made since October 2009. These are all the same batch numbers as the affected ReptileUV lamps. The factory appears to use the same numbers for all products at a given time.
T-Rex are not selling or distributing any more lamps until new stock made in the "original" glass is supplied, but if you return a lamp, you will get a new one when these become available. (There may be a considerable delay, of course.)
Alan will be sending me samples of these to test out, when he gets them. He's also sending me samples of their new "economy" lamp.
I'd just like to add my thanks to Vicky and others who are working hard to keep everyone posted on the situation.
Frances
