I am looking to start my colony up for my bearded dragon. I saw an ad on craigslist, saying that they will be willing to sell 200 roaches for 50 dollars, this will include 10 females, and 10 males. I was wondering if this would be a good deal?

10 adult males and 10 adult females?

You should see if he could do 14 females 6 males. A 1:1 ratio of adult males to adult females will not go over well. From my experience too many males stress the ladies out. 50$ isn't too bad but it's not the best by any means. I've purchased 300+ roaches (30 of which are adults) for 45$ shipped. Just do a lot of looking around, feeder sites, ebay, craightslist, forums etc. You can find a better deal, but it might take a little bit of effort.

P.S. I'm assuming you mean dubia roaches correct?

Actually pretty decent prices.

I'd call around to locally owned reptile shops or exotic pet stores. Maybe even regular mom n pop pet stores too. I found a local "Pets and Reptiles" kinda place by me, and I bought 200 discoids for $45, the kicker is that I got like 90 adults, 15-20 of my nymphs were adults within a week n a half, and I had my first batch of babies within 4 days. Within 2 1/2 weeks the number of babies has gone up to 90+ easily (probably more but they're getting hard to count lol).
