My house tends to lose power during bad storms, etc. What can I get for my beardy's habitat to make sure his lights stay on always?? Ps. We are not getting a generator for the house so that idea is out
Thanks!

How long does the power stay out? In the summer or mild weather you can just wait.
In cooler weather you can have some animal heat packs handy - they are a safer alternative to hand warmers http://www.amazon.com/40-Hour-Disposable-Heat-Pack/dp/B0043XHZGC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410704205&sr=8-1&keywords=Reptile+heat+pack

You might be able to use an inverter with deep cycle battery to operate the lights - but not sure how long it would last before it runs out of charge.

Edit: formatting mess

I have the lights on a UPS designed for a computer/server. When the lights are on, it draws about 18% capacity and has an estimated run time of a couple hours. A bigger battery backup will last longer, a smaller one will have shorter runtime etc. It's a good option if the outages don't tend to last for very long. It also helps protect the lights from surges. Otherwise for longer outages some heat packs are a good option as Taterbug suggested.

What do you mean about heat packs? Do you place it on the beardy?? I'm very new to this so I don't understand. Thanks

You don't touch them with it, but you put it under a towel (double layer is probably best) and let them sit on the towel or put it in a duffle bag under a towel or two. It's just enough to get the ambient heat up into the 90s for a while. Not ideal but works in a pinch (power outage, travel during winter, etc)

It would probably work better to have them warming some sort of smallish ventilated container to comfortable temps (70s)- rather than trying to heat the dragon to normal temps. This is the intent for the animal shipping packs I linked. The packs rely on oxygen to produce heat - wrapping them up so much might make them much less effective.

Dragons can handle being a little cool for a little while, so the packs are more for emergencies (too cold, power out too long) than short power outages.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
