I debated whether this belonged in the introduction's forum or this one but because we lost these two more than 4 years ago I decided it should probably be here as they aren't new beardies, just new to you all as I've never really shared them with you. These first two, Miss O (for orange) and Miss Y (for yellow) were best friends. I didn't realize until almost 2 or so years after we lost them that this is very unusual. You would have had to see them together to understand that they were talking to each other, usually a lot and every day.

I will share some pics of them with you
littlegirls3.jpg

Bill found Miss O hiding in this box inside of our living room and had to take a picture of her. Since the camera we were using at that time was a film camera, he took her and the box outside on our steps, which is probably why she looks a little annoyed.

Here's Miss Y and her yellow/black chin

Here they are enjoying Bill's Lamborghini

Miss O liked to hide this way a lot, with her loving look. She knew we loved her and that was very important to her.

Here's a pic of her chin, this pic looks like we took it at night, but we didn't

We submitted this pic for the bd.org calendar some years ago. This is one we took that I never noticed until we sent this in for the calendar that they were talking to each other. In this one, Miss Y was saying "I don't feel good" and Miss O was saying "I know, and I'm sorry" Miss O was like that, she had to comfort. She needed someone to love her and to be loved, and comfort when she knew we needed it.

I had better submit this before I delete what I've done, again.

Thanks, Gina. I hope you don't have any problems like that, either. Bill could hardly walk after both of those incidents. It's seriously frustrating.

Hi all. We had quite a night. We were awake in the middle of the night and Bill heard Rosie scratching in her hide. He took her out and she had quite a black beard. It looked to me like she had a prolapse, but not a bad one. It turned out she didn't have a prolapse and it seemed to us that she was trying to poop so we put her in her soak box to soak and she laid one egg in the water and seemed to be trying to lay more eggs but she didn't and I kept her on me for the rest of the night.

Awww, poor Rosie. That's odd that she decided to lay eggs in the middle of the night.
Did she try to lay more since??

She seemed to but has only laid the one egg since. I did talk to Bill while I was at work and I was told she was fine and didn't try to dig in the holes she likes, Goldie was more active then Rosie was today. Rosie did lay one egg in the bath water about 4:30 this am. I figured she would go to her hole and lay the rest today while I was at work. We got a bit of a lay box ready and put it on the floor near her home and she just looked at the dirt Bill put in the box as if she didn't know what to do with it.

This egg laying season of Rosie's is different then last year. I don't know what to expect, but then from what I've read on various egg laying posts, that seems to be normal.

Sweetie always lay an egg in her tank, then one in her bath, then a couple more before she'd even look at her laybox, then it would take a few days before she settled down to lay, so maybe that's what's happening to Rosie, only time will tell. Give her a hug for me!

wow, Lori, I hope she settles down and lays those eggies -- everyone seems to have weird reports this year on eggs, at least the infertiles... we're beginning to wonder about Lexi with her weird cycle -- she will be 2 in June, so she's old enough to torture us like that... I'm hoping she's just fat tho...

Yes, Dawn, this year has been very strange for our precious scaly kids. Rosie is almost 4 in about a month or so and this is only her second year for eggs. The first winter we had her she was still a baby/juvie. The second year we didn't let her sleep that winter but she kept digging a hole outside and trying to sleep in it. We didn't let her, too cold in AZ at night, but the following winter we let her sleep, and she slept a lot that year (winter of 2010) then she laid her first clutch of eggs about April last year. This last winter she only slept about half the time as the year before. Maybe this is what caused this strange egg laying season for her.

She doesn't seem to be ready to lay any more eggs, but I'm sure it's coming.

I'm beginning to think I can't keep beardies because, eventually, I'll do something that will hurt them. I have been soo careful with Goldie but I wanted some Goldie snuggles so I picked her up and had a t-shirt on top of her, I wasn't wearing the tshirt and I went to put her further up on my shoulder, the next thing I knew she was on the floor. I believe she will be o.k., it may take some time but, thankfully, it's not a repeat of Redrock. She is responding a little more and it's been only about 8 to 10 minutes ago. I think the fall just stunned her. I'm 5'3" and she was on my shoulder so she fell about 5 feet, maybe a little shorter distance. I feel soo bad and it may take some time for me to feel safe in holding her without a leash on her. She loves to be on my back and that can get dangerous for her falls. We are praying for her healing and, this time, it seems to be working. I just feel like I'm a danger to her, I know I'm an imperfect human and I will make mistakes, but I don't want those mistakes to cost me the life of my babies.

Lori, please don't talk like that, there is nothing wrong with you, accidents just happen. I'm sorry that Goldie fell, but it was an accident, not done purposely. I dropped a brick on Rubio the other day & I've been worried silly ever since. Mind you it was a brick standing on it's side on the balcony & he was sunbathing beside it, but it did drop on his belly & not his head, thank goodness, but I've been snuggling him every day since. If I were you I'd get some liquid calcium, just to be on the safe side & give her a bit daily. That will tighten any of her joints that may be a bit loose from the fall. Please don't beat yourself up about this. Accidents happen. Look what happened to Lonzo when he was flipping over so much, I put him down on the bed & he ran off & landed on his back! I also turned my back when he was on the scale being weighed & he jumped off the dining room table, down 3' unto a tile floor. So just realize that it was an accident, you didn't mean to push her up so high & you sure didn't mean her to fall off your back. Beardies are very hardy & so is Goldie, just keep checking on her & keep her quiet for the next couple of days. And keep me updated on how she is. When Lonzo fell off the dining room table, both his back joints were loosened, giving him liquid calcium every day tightened them all up. I don't beat myself up because Rubio took my attention away for a moment, these things happen. Sweetie used to try to think I had a bent back like Roger & was always trying to climb onto the top of my back, like she did with him, and that's how she fell the last time and broke her arms. I even caught her on the way down. That's when I realized that she'd lost all the calcium in her bones. So please be easy on yourself, just love Goldie like you always do. If you feel better about it then be sitting on the sofa when you hold her like that, so if she gets too high up, she'll land on the sofa top. Something like that. You love your Goldie & she knows that. Just be good to yourself, please. I know how I beat up on myself when all these accidents happen, but I realized that they were accidents, not done on purpose & I love my boys as much as you love your girls. :D I'll be praying that there is nothing wrong with Goldie.

It is very warming to hear of the love between beardies and their humans, as in the above-posts. Goldie will be in my prayers, too, and I'll keep sweetiepies' suggestions in mind if any accidents befall our KittyKitty.

I have found one way to get my snuggles and so far it's been safe: I wear a tank top under an open shirt. The tank top provides good gripping for his claws, and then I gently-but-firmly snap/button the shirt over his lower half (it can even be tucked in to my jeans for better support) Often the top of my shirt tends to close at the top, and KittyKitty snuggles me and has a little privacy from the world, yet can pop his head out whenever he wishes!

I came up with this method after wearing a shirt that he couldn't grip on to, and kept slipping!

Yep it's pretty normal for them to keep us guessing.

I agree with Deb! Lori accidents happen...Snuggles to Goldie!

Did Rosie lay anymore eggs?

Hugs & Snuggles!

@Debra. Thanks, My head knows that but, she's my baby and, since I've never had human kids of my own, I can only guess, but I can't help kicking myself over doing that. All I was trying to do is put her up higher on my shoulder, that has never happened before, and hopefully never will again. She's doing better but I think she's just sore and will be for awhile. As I was coming home, I decided I would give her calcium daily for awhile just to help her body heal and your email I read after deciding that confirmed my decision, thanks. I checked her arms when I got home and I don't think she broke anything her arms felt solid. Bill checked her poop and didn't see any blood in the poop.

@Barbara, Rosie did lay one more egg today, that's only 2 eggs. I lost more than 2 hours of sleep last night because it seemed too hot and Bill gets more of the fan on him than I do on me so I can't think correctly right now. Just a few minutes ago I had to re-look at your last post to see what you said as I couldn't remember after writing the response to Deb's post. I guess she will lay the rest when she gets around to it.

Thanks for your support, I was just feeling very stupid last evening, especially after how Redrock died, that wasn't easy to deal with and both Bill and I look back on what we did and didn't do and both blamed ourselves for allowing that injury.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
