I debated whether this belonged in the introduction's forum or this one but because we lost these two more than 4 years ago I decided it should probably be here as they aren't new beardies, just new to you all as I've never really shared them with you. These first two, Miss O (for orange) and Miss Y (for yellow) were best friends. I didn't realize until almost 2 or so years after we lost them that this is very unusual. You would have had to see them together to understand that they were talking to each other, usually a lot and every day.

I will share some pics of them with you

Bill found Miss O hiding in this box inside of our living room and had to take a picture of her. Since the camera we were using at that time was a film camera, he took her and the box outside on our steps, which is probably why she looks a little annoyed.

Here's Miss Y and her yellow/black chin

Here they are enjoying Bill's Lamborghini

Miss O liked to hide this way a lot, with her loving look. She knew we loved her and that was very important to her.

Here's a pic of her chin, this pic looks like we took it at night, but we didn't

We submitted this pic for the bd.org calendar some years ago. This is one we took that I never noticed until we sent this in for the calendar that they were talking to each other. In this one, Miss Y was saying "I don't feel good" and Miss O was saying "I know, and I'm sorry" Miss O was like that, she had to comfort. She needed someone to love her and to be loved, and comfort when she knew we needed it.

I had better submit this before I delete what I've done, again.

I've dealt with Todd, too, and he's great! I got the UVB metre from him, and when I have some $, I'm going to look into those Arcadia MVBs, too, Diane swears by them, too, Lori.

Liz, this is his website: www.lightyourreptiles.com Check it out, he's in Maine.

I'm glad you got the lights in, Lori, they're supposed to be the best on the market, I know Diane loves them. Maybe in August when I have my 3 pays, I'll check into them, too. I'm getting tired of the Power Suns not working well.

Lori, I'm SO glad you got the Arcadia MVB's, they are awesome and Loki & Angie love those bulbs. We have used them for almost 2 yrs now and they haven't declined in their output at all. I expect to get 3 or more years out of them. I had also gotten a Solar Meter from him and it's quite the money saver too being able to keep an eye on how much UVB rays they're putting out. Right now we're using the 80 watts for both tanks but just got a 100 watt for Loki's tank as his is longer so the bulb has to almost sit on top of the screen to keep it warm enough. With the 100 watt, I should be able to put the MVB a little higher on the lamp stand. The 8" dome should be here one day next wk.

Todd is a great guy, have talked to him over the phone, we talked for hrs, a very interesting man. Have communicated with him by email a lot too. He goes above & beyond to make sure his customers are happy and encourages phone calls & emails.

Let us know how your girls like their new bulbs.

We ordered the 100 watt originally because I figured that would keep the heat in the tank and a better temp during this time of year, it's not really warm enough in our house. We've gotten to cooler temps again. We are using an additional heat for both their tanks. I was going to try to get a couple of 80 watt bulbs to put into the tank for the summer as we try to save electricity $ during the summer by keeping our house closer to 80 during the day and I figured if we did, the 100 watt bulbs may give off too much heat for them as they both like it at not quite 100f. I'm glad you have them, Diane. I wanted to get one last year about this time with our tax refund but I didn't get to because the money when to cover past due bills. Then we were going to try in July, didn't happen. That's why this year I purchased them before the money could be taken with other things.

Hi Lori. How are they liking their Arcadia MVB's?

I can certainly understand how easy it is to spend a tax refund. Good idea purchasing the bulbs before the money was used on other things. :)

They seem to be enjoying them. I went to check on Rosie this am and found her under the log. They have us well wrapped around their claws. They are ready to sleep by 3:30 to 4pm. When we go to bed, we put them into their hide box. Yesterday am I found Rosie with her head leaning on the side of the wooden log we were given several years ago. I picked her up and snuggled her a bit then put her on top of the hide. This am she had woken up and gotten out of her box and went under the hide. Silly girl, you need to be on top of the log to bask. Lil Squirt, I had to pick her up from the hide box. She gets herself up on her own like maybe 3 or 4 times since we first got her. I found her (maybe yesterday, I don't remember for sure) under the log and had to literally drag her out and put her on top. The temp was only 96.

Rosie was in the window in the bedroom (with the window open) either late this morning or early this afternoon. Bill came in and couldn't find her. He told me that he asked Squirt where Rosie was and squirt looked at the tree well. Bill didn't know what that meant and when he asked her again, he got the same response. He saw a beardie in the tree well and, at first, didn't know what beardie it was. He hadn't taken Rosie outside and this beardie was outside with out a leash on. He finally recognized her. What happened was in years past when she wants outside she at first glass dances in her tank, then at the window then when the window is opened, she glass dances on the screen. it's made black marks on her the sides of her nose. Well, because of the frequency of this we've had to tape the window screen because we've not had the funds to fix it. Anyway, she went out of the house through the window. Thankfully she didn't hurt herself because it's quite a long fall from the window sill to the ground. We have a double wide trailer and it's not at ground level, that was to keep the water that comes to the house from coming into the house and damaging it. I told him to not open that window until we can get that screen replaced or fixed.

Oh my goodness! What was Rosie thinking leaving the house by herself!
Thank god that Lil Squirt told daddy where her sister went, even though he didn't know what she was talking about at first.

Oh dear, how scary that Rosie decided on her own to venture outside unsupervised. Glad she was ok and that he was able to find her with the help of Squirt. Hate to think what could have happened!

Us to. There are large hawk type birds out hear, not to mention those nasty Roadrunners, tho they are cute, they just are not very nice birds. I believe God watched over her. Thank you, Jesus!

Sure sounds like she has a guardian angel at least. How long do you think she was out there?

We are really enjoying Squirt's picture in the calendar this month. Several times I have shown her to Loki telling him that she's his sister and he tilts his head every time while intently looking at her. :p

I'm glad they're both enjoying their new Arcadia bulbs.

Thanks, Diane. I'm glad Loki is enjoying Lil Squirt's picture as well as you. I told Bill what you wrote. He took the picture and when we sent it in for the calendar, he chose that one as one of those we considered sending. Alex is the one that chose that one for a full page. I'm glad he did. It was great to see that all month.

yes Cat93, they sure were. I'm thankful we had them for as long as we did. If we hadn't been given those two we wouldn't have gotten Redrock and Sandstone. I can't see myself with out beardies in my life.

Bill and Alex chose the perfect picture to make a beautiful full page shot. The flowers really bring out Squirt's coloring. :p

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
