MVB in 29 Gal?

another consideration i didnt really think of is the temps can differ depending where the tank is located, like if its near a cold window or near a vent. so it is possible that not all 29gals would over heat, and then it again it could also be possible

Thats a good point. Another thing to keep in mind is changing seasons. I use 100 watt T-Rex Active UVB MVBs in both of my 40 gallon breeders which is essentially the same thing as the MegaRay. The bulbs are the min 12" from the basking spot and i have trouble with them getting too hot in the summer.

Previously i had the PowerSun by ZooMed and the bulb ran a lot cooler than the T-Rex and burned out within 3 months :roll:

If you do decide to use a MVB in a 29 gallon - you will have to monitor the temps very closely at the initial setup and during season changes.

No problem - i'm usually at work when i am posting my responses and i want to make sure they are clear and efficient so i think sometimes they come across as being a little short :? but i dont intend for them to be that way.

I have a repti sun 5.0 and a heat lamp should I put them on separate timers? OR should I leave them both on for about 12-14 hours a day (with the same timer)?

You can put both of them on the same timer.
