Is my new guy a normal or leatherback?

I got him this past Saturday at Houstons Repticon show. He seems and feels like a normal, hes also very spikey but at the same time appears smooth, what do you all think? Btw really great show!

Thank you for noticING and actually answering my question in another post about his weight! He's been eating on and off sense I got him Saturday, he's been pooping normally as well. Active as well. The breeder I bought him from said he had been abused by a previous owner.

Thank you! And ya it sucks...poor guy has trouble sleeping by himself, I literally have to let him fall asleep on me near his bed time so he can sleep the whole night ?

Definitely it's amazing how trusting he is though, guessing the person I bought him from did all the hard work now I just have to keep it up!

No idea. I was taken back by it to when I picked him up from the first time lol. Seems normal though.

Thanks. Wasnt sure if they should be clipped or not? Do ppl recommend nail clipping?

They can be clipped, but just like dog nails only a small part can be clipped off, idk if it's recommend but I think it's mostly to lessen scratches on the owner/tank glass/couches/beds

Yeah you can clip off just the sharp tip of the nail without a problem in order to minimize scratching. You can also put in a tile substrate or use an emory board to file down the sharp tip of the nails as needed. If the nails aren't getting caught in things or bothering you though I'd let them be to make climbing a bit easier.
