So what methods do you use to dust your crickets and other insects? Looking for some suggestions. The plastic bag method we are using is a bit of a pita.there has got to be an easier method

I feed my dragons in separate sterilite containers. I just pour the roaches into once corner of the tub, pour the powder on them, and shake them all around.

I use empty (clean) yogurt cups. Put the bugs in the cup a few at a time, pour a bit of supplement in, shake gently, then let the bugs out. I repeat in small batches (so they're easy to track).

I have a small source tub with a snapon lid (came with a chinese takeaway meal), I put about 1/8 - 1/4 tsp of calcium powder in using my old laboratory spatula (looks like a bread and butter knife) , in go the crickets, a gentle shake and they are dusted and I can fish them out one at a time with my fingers.

just got a couple of large cricket keepers with the big plastic tubes, just grab the tube, drop in some calci or multivit dust and give um a shake in the tube the just pour um out like handfuls of pringles lool, comes with 2 tubes on each side so I just put a little bit of tape on the end of a couple so I know which tube gets which dust.

I use a masson jar. (Got this idea from this forum) just put the crickets in add a little calc powder and shake.

ok, so there are these plastic containers that hold gum, trident or something not sure the brand. anyway, there are two ways of opening the top lid. One is a fully opened top, for use when you are getting a lot of gum or picking it out, and the other is a smaller opening within the top lid that allows for individual servings. so I load it up with crickets, through the fully open top, pour in a bit of dust, close the top, shake and then for feeding I open the smaller opening and just let the crickets crawl out on their own, sometimes they hang out for a while before emerging but Fred just hangs out by the container waiting for them to emerge. the whole thing is totally secure so I can dust and carry them into the house no problem or just sit them down for a bit without worrying about them getting out. The plastic is pretty thick and opaque so Fred doesn't go crazy with little images of crickets within the container. its this one here, plus I get the gum as extra haha

My basic cricket feeder kit :

My gutloading tub (an old used Piscus Cricket tub) and my dusting tub (c/- my local takeaway chinese restraint , a dipping sauce tub)

My dusting tub and delivery / storing tube (have 2 of these)

and I use one of these

to gather my feeder crickets and catch rogue crickets, these gadgets work a treat , only issue I have is the on/off switches in them are cheap and nasty and the solder attaching the wires to the switches often isn't good (but that's easy fixed if you have a soldering iron and some electronics solder).

That cricket vacuum contraption looks amazing. We are struggling to grab the crickets who are hiding off cardboard at the bottom of the Rubbermaid container. Using a scoop doesn't work because it squishes them. The only thing we have found that doesn't squish them is a piece of paper folded in half to scoop them up.

They have to sell something like that here in Canada. I'm going to have to try and track something like that down.

Ebay is the best place to find them.

Once you've used a bug vacuum you'll never go back to other "manual methods" of catching the feeders and the rogue bugs.
I can suck up enough crickets in 5 seconds to feed a beardie, even the super hoppy ones !.

Hi you can also gut load them too buy feeding lets say your crickets calcium powder right before you feed them, you can do the same thing with super worms , meal worms you just mix your powder with the food you are already feeding your feeders. Hope that help!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
