I hope she is ok in the morning. You mentioned that you turned off "their lights", I hope she isn't in with another beardie, if she is, that is certainly not a good idea at all with her in the condition she is. But, hopefully I misunderstood you.

Most likely yes.. I would almost say most definitely yes. That mass you feel in her stomach is either a severe impaction (she probably injested some of the sand that she can't pass) that is putting pressure on her spine and causing immobility... or she is egg bound. Both can be very serious and you should try to find ANYONE/SOMEONE to take her to vet as soon as possible.

Is she housed with another beardie? Is she still unable to move? When will she be going to see a vet?

I'm glad that she's better today and that she's getting a vet visit. I feel bad for you. New beardie and all these problems that you couldn't do anything to prevent!

Yeah thats the average price. Please dont feed her solids though until you get those done.It really seems like something is really blocking her up you dont want to compund the issue.I know the crix are small but better safe then sorry, right?

Hi everyone

I just joined up because I was searching for beardie spasms. These are my first beardies and I've only had them a week. Bought them from what I though was a decent breeder.
They were only 4weeks old when purchased and very active and healthy until yesterday when I came home. The larger one was lying on her back and couldn't get up and had no use of her back legs. I set her back on her feet and she had a spasm which lasted for about 30 seconds.
I called the vet and we drove her there straight away. I originally thought it was an impaction because of the lump on her back and the immobility of her back legs and tail. The vet in the local area is one of Belgium's most well-known reptile specialist so we were pretty lucky to have him. I descibed the symptoms to him and he said it wasnt an impaction but that her spine is broken. She may be able to regain mobility but if the nerves are broken there is nothing we can do for her. It's the first day with calcium and medication and shes taking that well, drinking well and had a baby cricket that jumped on her. She still has spasms and the best I can do is try to keep her upright. Shes still crawling around, hyperactive little tyke. But its the stupid waiting game now.
If you have similar symptoms definately go to the vet. The breeder didnt have a UV light in the tank with the hachtlings and so they had their first month of life without their calcium. Their bones arent as strong as what they should be and if they do have a tumble something like this can happen

Dont worry I use paper toweling. Shes had at least one spasm every 2 hours however she has some reflex in her back left leg again. Not much but it's a start. She still hasnt pooped. As the vet said, its the waiting game.

i'm not 100% sure but i have read from one or two books that it could be calcium defeciency. do you coat her live food with calcium dust if you do its probably not..

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
