Ok, quick story. I bought the fake leaves so Myah would stop attacking her reflection while eatting. I put them in and she tried to eat them! DUH....(to me) Ok, I gave Myah her dinner salad and she got the idea. Good. I walked away and came back an hour later to check on her and this is what I found! Laying under the leaves, right beside her reflection! You win this round Myah... 8)

We left our beardie's terrarium unlocked today, with it closed, and did not expect anything to happen within the hour that we were out running a short errand. Never had problems before, our almost 1 1/2 year old female has never left her enclosure, even with the doors wide open.
Today we came back to finding her in one of my 5 gallon betta tanks, the only tank I have that has no lid. She has always been trying to eat my fish, axolotls, and aquatic frogs from outside the tanks, but we never figured that she'd be able to actually get inside it. We found her in the 78 degree water, which was half filled because of betta's tendencies to jump, with just her head out of the water, looking like she was waiting for us to take her out from her soak. She couldn't have been in there more than half an hour, I'm sure. She was completely calm, no black beard at all.
The funny part is, she had shat in the water and sat on the fish. I had expected that she'd eaten it, but I found my beautiful male show betta dead at the bottom from either ammonia poisoning from the giant hunk of beardie crap in there, or from getting squashed by her fat beardie butt. Beardie got a warm bath, and I had to flush the fish.
Not to mention I nearly threw my hatchling musk turtle tub to the side trying to get to her, thinking she had drowned.
I have no idea how she got in there, but this girl is trouble. I think she's rather proud of herself.

Some people say that their beardies get used to their reflections. Myah is not one of those beardies! LOL! I put the leaves around the bottom of the tank just past her eye level. It worked very well. I then switched to a static cling background and it seems to be working well too as the air pockets (due to my inability to put it on perfect  ) seem to distract her. I really love a static cling!noelerhard":1ytwc9kd said:Oh wow that's a smart beardie. The picture is adorable too! I've every way possible to get her to stop attacking her reflection, but I've failed misrably so far.

Another time I was watching the two look at each other from their tanks, and Kohl started to do the wavy-dance, then Hiccup did it a few times back. I was so proud of my girls getting along!
Just make sure theyre in separate tanks! I got yelled at for that mistake.noelerhard":2yg20ex5 said:raidiowires":2yg20ex5 said:One time I was holding Hiccup and she puffed up in my hands really big but wasnt trying to get away, and I kissed her for head and she deflated like a sigh.
