Our beardie impressed me with her perception of our two cats. She is clearly not upset by our tabby, who spends a lot of time around the viv (because that's where WE are!), and in fact, barely gives him the time of day when he's pawing at the glass, or looking over her while she's eating in her small tank... in fact, yesterday he sat beside her, watching in AWE as she hunted down her crickets. He was clearly impressed, as he's never been much the hunter himself.
OTOH, beardie dives into her plants every time our black medium hair walks by her viv, and she's right to do so. Black cat is the sweetest, shy little dearie to humans, but she is the consummate huntress, always on the prowl. And she's quite adept. Funny, she hasn't really "noticed" beardie all that much (probably because beardie heads for the bushes when she come round), but if she sees that little cutie moving one of these days, I imagine she'll make it a habit to "visit the viv" often.
Luckily, black cat doesn't hang around in the house much during the day (tabby is omnipresent to annoying levels  ). And, the cats don't have access to the part of the house beardie lives in during the night.
To share: the other day, I was holding beardie at the sunny window and tabby comes up, and sits beside us (but of course, he will NOT be ignored in favor of the scaly one). But there we were, three happy beings, side by side (by side), enjoying some rare sun in wintertime.
The best,
Em
