Beardie Digging the carpet!

[GRAAAAY]

My bearded dragon seems to be trying to dig up the carpet for some reason...?

does anyone have any ideas as to why she is doing this?

Its normal behaviour. they did in the wild to dig a cool spot away from the sun or to dig a hole to keep warm. females can dig when they want to lay eggs. My beardie goes through digging stages too. When she's cuddling up to me she digs at my neck and pjs until she is comfortable

So its not really anything to worry about then, shes not going crazy? haha! Shes crazy enough!

nope, nothing to worry about! digging and scratching is all perfectly normal and natural!

Zuki is a female. even though she has never been near a male will she still lay eggs? (sounds stupid i know but this is my 1st time owning a beardie) x

It doesn't sound stupid, we all have to learn somewhere....yeah they can still lay eggs even if they haven't been with a male (im dreading the day)

If they haven't been with a male, as far as i know mine hasn't. Will the eggs be viable ? I have heard about a Komodo Dragon in a zoo laying eggs but it was never with a male.

No they need the male to fertilise the eggs- the eggs are useless without having mated

beardies do it in the wild to find; a comfortable spot / bury themselves for warmth or bury themselves to get shade out of the sun

it wont have become harmful but it wont be as effective. You should change UVBs every 6 months (even though it may say 1 year on the packaging) so i think your'e due a new one.
