You might want to consider a leopard gecko. They will consume many of the same live feeders that a beardie does but yet won't get nearly as big. You can't house more than one in a 10 gallon and a 20 would be better. Lots of information on geckos on the web also.

pacman frogs are cool...i think...i got one in a ten gallon and its super easy to maintain. however this is a very boring pet. it doesnt move ever like mayb once a week. pretty much the only cool thing about it is feeding it live mice once its old enough. seems like u want something thats more active but they are easy and cool.

I second the leopard gecko. Very cool looking, and pretty cheap to maintain compared to a beardie (food, lighting, tank size, etc.) -- especially if you share feeders!

I don't think you'll find anything with the personality of a beardie though...
