    Few problems with my Beardie

Spike - Thank you I've always loved his happy colors. Sometimes I swear he must be embarrassed of them because anytime I try to show others he darkens up. I definitely plan to start him back up on his normal Calcium/Vitamin supplements. Maybe they will spring him back to life. As for relocation...

    Few problems with my Beardie

Vitti does seem happiest when he is out of his tank. I used to give him Calcium and multivitamin quite often, IE 5 days a week for the Calcium and twice for the vitamins. Now he gets mostly Critical Care. I was weary to do both. I plan on taking him to the vet again once I get either my...

    Few problems with my Beardie

Lets start off with all the basics. (lighting, temps and whatnot) I keep my beardie in a 48L X 20W custom enclosure. Substrate is a cheap bit of stick on tiles until I can afford him better ones. (Before he always had newspaper) Lighting is a ReptiSun 10.0 18" strip at approx 8inch from his...

Am I babying my Beardie too much?

I can honestly say without a shadow of doubt that I love my beardie more then anything or anyone in this world. My entire life is arranged around my beardie's schedule. I won't even work first shift just so I can be home with him, even if hes just basking away. Nobody else is allowed to touch...

    Best worm...?

I tend to order my worms from http://www.mulberryfarms.com/ They have a good assortment of worms and I've had a good run with them. Vitti tends to favor Hornworms and I've always gotten good healthy ones. I'd recommend them wholeheartedly. Though for the holiday season they've ditched their...

Being a HUGE meanie out of nowhere!!

A good vegetable staple for beardies is greens. (IE Collard, Mustard ect) Lettuce has no nutritional value its mostly just water. I've also read of others giving blueberries or raspberries on occasion as a treat. Something you may wish to invest in is a timer to plug your lights into. This way...

    Is this normal?

I'm going to assume the reptile bulb is not what your using for UVB. You don't have to use reptile heating bulbs to properly heat your dragon. I've had great success with regular bulbs and flood lamps that you buy at any store. Right now I'm using a regular ol 75w flood lamp I got from the...

Being a HUGE meanie out of nowhere!!

Feed him bugs twice a day, letting him eat as many as he wants till he stops. Then remove the rest. Growing beardies are like walking vacuums, you'll be surprised at how much they can suck down. You'll probably want to get rid of the dry food, so that when hes not eating crickets, he'll be...

I don't think my beardie is healthy?!

Its hard to know exactly if your beardie is short for their age as we do not know exactly how old it is. When was the beardie hatched if you know? If not how big was the beardie when you got her? What type of UVB do you use? Length from light to basking spot? How many crickets/veggies do you...

    Is this normal?

You mean she straightened her leg out? Sounds to me like she was giving off some "Sexy Leg" as beardie slaves around here like to call it. Beardies stretching out their legs as they bask or sleep ect is not uncommon. In fact my beardie makes a career of it. Looking at the picture it looks...

How big did your bearded dragon get??

Vitti is a little over 24in long. I'm not sure of the weight but hes a pretty big fella. Hes a fatty so he probably weighs a lot, he can sure gobble up those hornworms at full size.

    Cleaning dubia bins

It might sound awful but I just used a sweeper hose attachment to clean mine out. I had about 4 or 5 k Dubia too. If you sift the nastiness around a bit before turning it on and continuously hit the side of the bin the roaches usually scatter away for the egg flats or anywhere else to hide. If...

    Gnats and other Dubia problems.

I'm sorry if you disapprove but I did what I had to do. I put em off back in the woods so its not likely they'd bother anybody even if they managed to survive the cold and rain. I needed them out of my house and quick

    Gnats and other Dubia problems.

Took them outside and turned the container over. I'll let them fend for themselves till the cold weather claims them. I hate to condemn anything to death but it was past the point of return for the colony. It was getting so bad.

    Gnats and other Dubia problems.

I was forced to get rid of the colony. It got to the point the roaches were getting killed off and the walls of the container were infested with Gnats. Shame. I cared for them for so long. But I didn't want to risk any bacteria or disease reaching my beardie

    Roach ID Please...

An Easier way to sex them is the males have wings the females don't :P Its almost impossible to not notice. The ones in your pictures are females, notice the wing stubs. Males will have full blown wings, but can't fly. The adult Dubias are shiny, unlike the Nymphs which are dull. Females also...

    Gnats and other Dubia problems.

Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of another room to put them in D: The only reason I have them in my room to begin with is due to the fact I live with others. My only living space has pretty much been modified to support my beardie. All the other rooms either have occupants or can be...

    Gnats and other Dubia problems.

I really regret to have to resort to that. Even though they are just bugs I have a sort of pride and caring for them that comes from such a long time of helping the colony grow. I guess I'll just grab a few moms and a dad and take it from there. Shame really but I am getting so sick and tired...

    Gnats and other Dubia problems.

For the past month I've been battling an onslaught of Gnats. They are breeding inside my dubia colony container. I figured maybe if I cleaned it out more maybe the problem would go away but that is simply not the case. Its gotten to where I clean it out daily and still everyday I open it up and...
