hi everyone my name is mike and this is zeus

zeus is 9 inchs and born sept so about 5 months he was a girl at first and his name was zoey so i switched it to zeus he is a pretty intresting little buger idk how most of you get your crickets but when i go and get mine they get put in a plastic bag so i come home with them the other day and he is staring where i put them down and glass dancing so i dum them in the cricket cotainer and leave about ten in the bag so when i was shaking the bag for those 10 to come out he puffed up so i think is has a fright of plastic bags but idk for sure and it was pretty cute when he was running after the crickets all puffed up i should of took a video and also befor i start uploading pics of him i just thought i would say that today i let zeus and one of my cats tiger meet

it went prety well i held tiger well he was trying to smell zeus just in case it went good for about 5 mins

and then i tought it was gonna be tiger geting mad or trying to attack zeus but then i noticed zeus puffed up and opened his outh as wide as his little mouth can and thats when i just put him back lol i didnt want me or the cat to get bitten but overall it has been going good and i will show you guys some pics and keep you updated and yesterday i let zeus try a horn worm he loved it (that better of been worth 75 cents zeus :lol: ) and im so happy the reptisun 10.0 should be here on the 20th yay

Sorry I haven't been on top of updating and stuff been to busy with school and paintball to update put I will get some pics up this week promise but today we got are first snow and it's a storm lol cresties been doing fine and Zeus has been sleeping

@deb in glad to here brumation hasn't hit your home yet I hope when this is all over Zeus will finally get into veggies cause he's never liked them lol

P.s. for next September I'm debating wether to breed cresties or get a second beardie but I'm thinking super red leather back female

So have you named your crestie yet? Or determined if he's male or female. It won't be long before my crew are asleep. Rubio was in his hide for 2 days, just peeking out, but I had a friend visit yesterday & hauled him out to be introduced. Today he actually ate & was up all day, so not sure when the big crash will come. Didi's sleepy alot but still up daily, so are Leo, Lonzo & Gabriel, even though they're slowing down & not eating as much as usual. But here we are Oct & still no big sleeping going on, makes me glad, I sure my boys when they're sleeping!

So have a great Thanksgiving weekend Mike, it's going to be a nice time. We're all getting together at my mom's (16 of us and that's just immediate family & kids), so that will be alot of fun. My mom gets everything done & we all clean up her kitchen!

So maybe Zeus will wake up on the weekend to say hi! At least you have a companion when he's sleeping. As for another beardie, you'll have to see when you get to next September. My dragonsitter raises cresties, the babies are soooo cute, and tiny. Mostly just head/tail & a wee tiny body, 2" in length when they were born!

Awww, Zeus looks wonderful and likes to cuddle, that's great. Your Mr. No Name looks good, too. So is Zeus back to sleep? Didi has been sleeping for 3 days so far & Rubio's like a yoyo, one day sleeping 2 days up, 2 days sleeping 1 day up, it's been weird for him, but he has to do his last poop before I'll let him alone. He's soaking in a bath right now, then I"m off to gym. Thanks for all the pics!

Well guys all I got is bad news crestie passed away he wouldn't eat grow and was getting some weird walking problem

Sheba 15 years old cat passed away started getting kidney failure and bad arthritis

And Zeus still won't eat his damn veggies

Good news Zeus isn't really sleeping anymore lol idk why but it's been like 2 weeks now

Sorry to hear about your crestie & your cat, it's always sad when pets pass away.

Every beardie brumates differently. Here Rubio is passed out, he slept 3 mo in a row last year, so probably will do the same this year. Didi & Leo slept for a week & are already awake, they'll be up & down all winter. Lonzo wants to sleep, he was out like Rubio last year, 3 mo in a row, but his right lung isn't functioning hardly at all, so he's awake like it or not. Gabriel doesn't seem to know about brumation, he's not eating bugs, neither is Lonzo, so they get babyfood chicken when I can manage it, and they're eating greens but only because I hand feed them! If it weren't for that they wouldn't eat anything. Didi & Leo are eating bugs, Didi's eating crickets & Leo's eating supers but again, they have to be hand fed to eat greens/veggies. So you might have to hand feed Zeus, too. I have to put them on my lap & put a piece along the inside of their mouth to get their mouth open, then I pop in the piece of squash or collard green. It's the ONLY way any of them will eat their salads, pain in the neck, but at least this way they eat.

Ok hey everyone sorry for not updating anymore just have been busy with school and paintballing and soccer and with snowboarding coming soon plus I got all my friends gosh it's hard lol I will put pics tommorow promise time for some questions

1. Zeus does not poop maybe once a week even if I bath him everyday so I heard to try pumpkin so do I just use any pumpkin or certain brands ???

2. Also I have tried everything with veggies hand feeding putting them with bugs everything so what makes a good substitute for greens or what should I try next ???

But the poop help is my main ? Cause it's hard to have Zeus out if I'm scared he will poop on my bed again for like the 10th time lol but any suggestions would be amazing.

Any pumpkin brand will be fine as long as it's straight pumpkin & no spices, just 100% pumpkin. I give it to Rubio as he's another beardie that holds onto his poop. I give him alot from a syringe, about 5ml and usually the next day I have poop. As for veggies, I don't know what to suggest, I've always been able to hand feed squash & collard greens or bok choy. Those are all my gang will eat. Hopefully someone else will have a suggestion. I have a friend who's beardie has never eaten greens in his life & he's 12 1/2 yrs old. He'll only eat bugs! I know veggies are important for the vit/min content, but there's not alot you can do right now if he's not willing. Maybe get him through the winter and try again when he's 100% awake. :dontknow: Have you tried sort of forcing the issue by putting greens into his mouth from the side, then once his mouth opens up, just pooping it in? That's what I do to start my boys when they're not really wanting to eat greens. I start them off with squash, too, the same way. Or you could make a slurry by blending up greens, veggies with water and using a syringe to feed it. Can't think of anything else. At least try the pumpkin, it's squash, too and my crew really love it. Even if it takes a few tries, keep trying.

Hey guys sorry for making ya wait again stil no veggie progress poops in the bath still 1-2 times a week eats about 150 Crix a week and 3 hornworms I do got pics he is doing very good he likes sleeping on my shoulder and neck lol he dosent really do understand the whole syringe thing lol do I add water to make it abit thinner? Or just leave it how it is ? Well here's some pictures

So that's my handsome Zeus I just let him have his tank how he wants it I swear his cliff is moved around 3-5 times a day lol it's so funny hope u enjoy

If you're feeding him squash babyfood, don't need water. Just drip a drop on his snout just above his mouth & then drop it on as he licks it off. The pics of the babyfood on his face were funny, guess it will take some getting used to. Keep trying, though, he'll eventually get the idea. At least he's eating lots of protein, which is still good for him. My gang eat 2 things, butternut squash cut up in little squares & collard greens, that's it. They all much prefer bugs to veggies & they're all alot older than Zeus. So keep trying, anyway. If he's not pooping alot, you can also try canned pumpkin. Didi and Rubio are the "not so often" poopers, pumpkin always does the trick. It takes time to get used to a syringe, Mike, so give yourself that time.

I took a pic of myself & the four that are awake, Rubio is still sound alseep, probably for another 2 or so months. The others are wide awake daily, they just all go to sleep earlier than usual. All eating because I hand feed & will put food along the side of their mouths to get their mouths open if I have to! Didi is now into big crickets, won't eat supers, the others are back to eating supers every day.

Ya that's pumpkin sorry I left that out I meant do u mix water with the pumpkin and wow that must have been hard to take that pic imagine if u had all 5 that would've been a struggle lol

No, even pumpkin you don't mix with water, you just use a bigger holed syringe. I get 5ml at Safeway, that works well for babyfood, you just have to get used to the plunger so you don't squirt the whole thing on his face :lol: Did he lick any of it off when you gave it to him? He'll get used to it, too, and he'll take down a bunch when he does. Don't forget I've been using the syringe for feeding for 6 years, so I'm a real expert now. When Sweetie was 6 mo old, in Oct/06, she stopped eating anything, really, not crickets or greens like she'd been doing. So it was babyfood or starve to death; she ate babyfood until the following June, then she suddently started eating crickets and greens/veggies again. So I got real expert at the feeding by syringe. It just takes practice.

PeeWee likes to sleep on me exactly like this when I'm sitting on the end of the couch! They are so cute when they sleep standing up right. Zeus looks great, he filled out nicely. I may have missed this, what are his measurements and weight? I love his coloring, the dark and light contrast makes his pattern really pop. He certainly is handsome, Miss Chloe definitely thinks so :lol:
