Would this make a good adult tank for him?

I am looking into getting the 40 gallon ExoTerra Large 36x18x12 tank. Is this a good size?

18 wide, 12 high.

That length and width would be fine but I'd be concerned about the height because it would make it hard to get a good basking & cool side temp as well as trying to have the UVB at the right distance. At only a 12" height, it doesn't give you much room to work with.

Are they any tanks slightly taller, like 18 or 19"?

Yes, there's the cheaper one from PetSmart, I just didn't like how I have to grab him from the top, but I can handle it.

Taking him out through the top takes a little getting used to but he (and you) would have more options with the way the taller one is set up.

Picking him up from the top? The Exo Terra terrariums have doors on the front, you dont need to access the top if I'm understanding what tank your talking about... I have the 36x18x18
