im new to the whole beardie viv building thing and i was wondering what the best dimensions for a tank would be. i know it should be as big as possible but how high?

I'd go with at least 4'x2'x2' but higher if you can. You'll probably want it about 4' high if you're going to go with a bioactive substrate because the layers will take up a bit of space. You can change the lighting to fit the space as needed so the more you have the better in my opinion.
