When to change lighting

Well, I may sound kind of stupid posting this but I lost track of when I got my Reptisun. So is there a way to check if it's time to change? If not, I'll just buy a new one to be safe.

There are UVB meters, but they're expensive. The two available at ReptileUV are $199.95 each.

So I'd definitely just buy the new bulb to be safe.
