When do I move to a larger enclosure?

At this time Spike has a 20 gal at home and a 15 gal at school. I do have a 40 breeder and 55 gal ready for his move but wanted to know when I should turn the babie's room into a kids room?

Typically it is best to do when he is as long as the cage is wide, maybe even a little sooner.

The 55 will be to narrow for him as an adult. Not enough room to turn around.

My 55 is actually half of a 110 so the width will be 18" when complete.

I got a 110 for a good price and will build a wall/basking spot as a central divider. The height will allow me room to install the lights in the tyank and not be diffused from the top with a screen. This is the set up for home.
