What's too small?

My Chester is 5 months now and I worry that he's way too small! I see a lot of other beardies and they seem to grow really fast! I'm afraid that Chester just isn't keeping up and I'm really worried! He's about 8 inches with a nipped tail.

More useful to compare weights than TTS lengths as many beardies have cropped tails (bitten by their siblings when really little and sharing an enclosure with lots of other very hungry food orientated hatchlings. Just like Chester does.

Puff was 145g , Rex was 182g , Peppa was 191g, and Toothless was 137g at 20 weeks old. A friend of mine's little girl was 83g at 20 weeks old.

Hi Ember, Chester is a very cute little bugger and nicely proportioned. If he had his full tail he'd probably be closer to 11" -12" . That is within the reasonable average length for a 5 month old. Does he have a good appetite, and how much does he eat daily ? Although some dragons are much larger at that age, that doesn't mean that they will be healthier in the long run. All dragons grow at different rates so just because he's not a fast grower doesn't make him less healthy.

I know this may sound ridiculous but how are you weighing yours? Are you using a specific scale? The only tool I'd have to weight him would be my mom's bathroom scale ?

Oh ok! I'm so glad he's in the normal range at least ? I was so worried. He has a good appetite when he isn't shedding. When he does shed, he'll hardly eat anything for 2 days and then on the third day, he'lol stuff himself and repeat the cycle. It's really weird lol but he doesn't seem to be deficient in anything when he does that. When he does eat regularly, it depends. Some days he'll only be hungry for one feeding, other days he'll eat at both feedings. I offer a variety of feeders now bc crickets have completely and throughly disgusted me. His most recent have been Phoenix worms and he'll eat 50+ of those in one day ? So I got more variety so I can alternate Phoenix worms, dubia worms, and silkworms (trying to get some smaller hornworms to add also). Sometimes he'll eat the veggies provided but rarely. Most of the time, he'll pick around them for his buggies.
