what does everyone think of the 2in one uv and heat bulb.

Are you talking about an MVB (Mercury Vapor Bulb)? They work fine, but they have some requirements, specifically a 'minimum' distance which varies depending on wattage. You need to have a fairly tall tank to use them, or you'll be fairly limited with how how the basking area can be.

IMO they are the best UV bulb out there, currently I recommend the Megaray MVB's.
Just be aware that sometimes the temperatures you get from the MVB's at their minimum distance won't be high enough and you'll have to add an additional heat lamp.

Myself I decided against using the MVB.
Between problems at the manufactuer level, to needing an additional heat bulb to balance the tanks heat levels, I will just stick to the 2 bulb system im using. 1 fluecent tube for uvb and 1 bulb for heat.
Why buy an all in one bulb if your still going to need 2 bulbs.

because i have 2 heat bulbs and the uv tube and i cant get the uv tube the right hight 6-8inchs away as my viv is 6foot and the biggest arcadia tube i can get is 4foot so i want a mvb or what every there called will be betta as i will have 2 lights and not 3

You really dont need to get your animal to within 6 inches of the bulb.

i am also thinking of purchasing a megaray, due to the height of my tank being 28"high, i cant get my bd close enough to his uvb tube when he is basking.

i have however seen lots of problems posted on here? has this been sorted out?

The problems are all sorted out, just make you buy your megaray from an authorized dealer.
My megaray was purchased in April and it's working just fine.
