Thanks in advance for the communities help. Bought my 3 year old daughter a 1 mo old Beardie. I just noticed an abrasion at the base of her tail and am wondering what it could be?

It almost looks like a burn mark -- can you please post pics of the tank and lighting

Pretty hard to be a direct burn as light is 10-12 inches from closest spot where she basks. Really only thing I could thing besides a growth(cancer or cyst) was I left 6 or so crickets in with her for the first night. Which I immediately stopped. It just looks older than a couple weeks. I've only had her 2 weeks.

Ok so we need to have Tracie or ahbd look at it--- Tracie is our vet moderator- can you go over her set up so we can figure out possible cause- I wonder if it's a bite from a cricket that has gotten infected - but her husbandry would be good- you can post pics of the tank-- would be great

I'm thinking it may be a bite I just noticed while giving her a bath. Doesn't look infected but I am new to this. I just want to make sure she'll be fine.

I want Tracie and ahbd to look at it--- your all in one is a what? Brand and bulb wattage please- how far do you have it up from basking decor? Ahbd can advise on that bulb and distance- how are you taking basking temps? No stickons they give ambient temps only- digital probe thermometer is best and infrared heat gun as well-- what size tank is she in?

I don't like the look of that. You might want to try putting some plain neosporin on it in case it's a bacterial infection. It could be something fungal too though so maybe lamisil or something along those lines. It's probably best to have a vet take a look at it and treat accordingly. Until then I'd keep it as clean as you can and keep taking photos of it so you can tell if it is changing or not.

Thanks for all the help squad,
I just got her under 2 weeks ago. Didn't know you shouldn't leave crickets in. Only had a couple maybe 6 for 1 night. Light is UVB 100W 10" from branch and 12" from the rock on the hot spot. Using a Braun head thermometer that says 104 outside direct beam. So it's probably errors out at 105. So I think my temps are good. Tank is 10 gallon but temporary shes still small in a month or 2 I'm gonna get her a 40 Gallon. But my concern is I like this one, I'm thinking maybe I didnt notice it and it's a birth mark or a bite from before I bought her is possible. Shes acting perfect just worried about it getting worse and how to avoid it.

Hello,

I definitely agree, it looks like a bite. Crickets are horrendous & extremely carnivorous. They
will definitely bite if given a chance. Neosporin/polysporin or raw honey on that area should
help a lot.
I am not familiar with that particular MVB, it is a new brand I guess. So, I don't know how good
of quality the UVB is. Perhaps you could keep that but once you get her into a 40 gallon tank,
you can purchase a Reptisun 10 tube or an Arcadia D3 12% tube to complement the MVB.

I agree w/ Tracie on the UVB -- I have never heard of the brand either-- so I can only tell you that you can either keep it and also add another UVB a TUBE Reptisun 10.0 T 5 w/ a 24" fixture w/ reflector or get a regular basking bulb that keeps basking temps 105-110 --- temps need to be taken w/ a digital probe thermometer and or a infrared heat gun -- I recommend both -- but to be on the safe side I would get another UVB --- you dont want your dragon sick and improper lighting and basking temps will get them sicker faster than anything -- the Reptisuns and Arcadias are the best on the market at this time ----- if you need more help or information please ask ---- if you decide to get a new UVB please let us know what you get --- distance and placement of the UVB is key here and very important

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
