The Life and Times of Helen Hawking, dbnr

I first noticed Helen Hawking in a classifieds ad, looking for a fellow companion in a lonely world. Her piece sang to me and one picture in particular caught my eye.

I felt that I had found a kindred spirit, someone with the same zest and zeal for life that I possessed. We spoke at first through an intermediary before finally deciding to meet. She came to me in a rather unorthodox fashion- boxed up and restrained.

But we quickly found common ground and chatted a bit over a light meal.

Something I said must have disturbed her however, because she cut our talk short and scuttled over to a corner, seeking solitude in an unfamiliar environment and leaving me to clean up what was left of her lunch.

She hasn't been growing as rapidly as I saw with Darwin, so thank goodness Tom had warned me her growth might be stunted. Here's a comparison between the first day I got her and today:

She's definitely grown since I got her though. She's gotten big enough to jump out of the water and haul herself onto the edge of the tub I use to bathe her so I've had to keep a closer eye on her when she's soaking :lol:

I'm super glad to have her, especially now that Darwin has finally decided to start brumating this year. The little pooper is so sleepy looking but very adorable in his little box

Oh, bless her heart. :love5: She is just so sweet and looks very happy. Isn't that something how she can jump out of the water and move around so well.

So she'd become quite the little escape artist, huh? That's great because it means that she still got her spunk and ability/will to get around.

Oh and the wood chips are some leftover aspen I had from when my gerbils died (RIP TTX and TEA). I thought he might enjoy digging in it or might just ignore it and I'd remove it, but holy cow did he have a blast with it! He made a huge mess the first couple of days but the novelty seems to have worn off :roll: I'm waiting for him to leave the box when the weather gets warmer (it'll be back in the high 70's by Thursday unfortunately) so I can open up the other end and he can fit into it better :lol:

Thanks! You'd be surprised how much strength and energy she can have. She's definitely just a regular juvenile with a...peculiarity... :wink:

Thanks! Again, the support is greatly appreciated! I'll work on the video but I'm not quite sure how to do that with my current camera. Will get right on it though! Kind of reminds me of a crab at times though :lol:

My only fear is that when she matures she somehow manages to develop eggs and becomes eggbound. Knocking on wood so that doesn't happen!
